The Asian elephant is officially considered highly endangered. Cruelty and abuse towards endangered animals is against the law.
Circus elephants lead a very sad and traumatized life. Young elephants are smuggled from Asian and African countries. They are separated from their family (when in a natural setting, live their whole lives together) at a young age. They are kept chained, live in the back of trucks, or very small and poor living conditions. They stand on concrete which causes leg and foot problems, which is more often than not, ignored by their trainers causing serious damage. They are beaten, hooked, and sometimes electrocuted in order to obey and learn to do unnatural tricks for our amusement. Fear is instilled from a very young age. Sometimes they die from exhaustion and extreme stress. If they do not die, they live this way for most of their lives, which in the wild can be up to 70 years. In captivity elephants are only living out half their life span.
Elephants are highly social and emotional creatures. Kept in captivity they only produce 1 or so calves as opposed to many in the wild. Zoos are incapable of providing the acreage necessary to maintain elephants' physical needs and psychological health. Elephants can walk up to 30 miles a day. Kept in zoo’s they become bored, stressed, and can suffer from stereotypic condition. Which is a mental illness. Zoos' cannot support the proper needs of elephants.
Tears are the same in every language, and in every living thing.
There are many traumatized elephants living in this world that need freedom.

I am back from Thailand. I spent some time at the Elephant Nature Park in northern Thailand and i loved the moments i spent there. I lived, breathed, and worked with 30 elephants all recovering from various forms of abuse and mistreatment. They are given freedom in a very positive environment from some of the most caring and courageous people I have ever met. My experience was wonderful and I miss it there every day. If you would like more information about volunteering at this magical place; see their website for more details: Elephant Nature Foundation
I took many pictures and have lots of stories, for now i will let the photo's tell the stories.
I have made this space to educate others and open minds about the cruelty towards elephants in zoo's and circuses.
No animal should suffer.
I am a lover of every living thing on this planet. I seek justice for our friends that do not have a voice. I have gone to school and have worked in social work, but have realized that animals are where my heart is. Elephants rip at my soul and cruelty towards them keeps me awake at night, crying. I push myself to educate myself as much as i can, i watch video's no one else can stomach, I will keep standing up when everyone else thinks i am ridiculous for trying to help. This motivates me. I want to know what they go through.
Elephants are considered one of the most intelligent animals on our planet. They are emotional, social, and very close to each other. We need to gain knowledge from them, rather than find amusement in them. They are strong, evolved, and mysterious creatures. If we do not do what we can to preserve them, this species will be wiped out. There are only 30,000 Asian Elephants alive today. They deserve their freedom.
Thank you for coming to my page and for your ongoing support, kindness, and collaborations.
one love.
