I am Robert Vinson, an eclectic composer residing in Los Angeles, California. Growing up in the arts minded community of Woodstock, N.Y., I began composing at the age of 16. I went on to receive a Master of Music Degree from the Manhattan School of Music and soon became part of the New York music scene. I worked as a composer, arranger, and performer in New York City from 1975-1981. Although I earned my living in the commercial music field, my real passion was to compose new music for the symphonic orchestra.In 1981 I moved to Vancouver, British Columbia where I worked until 1987. While in Vancouver I performed with the Vancouver Symphony and recorded two Jazz albums, one of which won me a spot on the 1985 Montreux Jazz Festival.I moved to Los Angeles in 1987 to study Film-Score Composition. I studied composition with many of Hollywood's leading film composers. In 1990 I enterred chiropractic college and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic in 1993. People ask me what I do. They say I can't be a doctor and a composer. One must be your profession and the other a hobby. I am happy that they are wrong and I do both equally and the talents complement each other. My recent CD for the TV psychic Char, which was just released in Holland, is all music for healing and chakra balance. My holistic healing practice includes anti-aging and many other important timely therapies. I am a doctor of chiropractic, but chiropractic is only a small part of my healing touch. I am incorporating music into all of my therapies in very creative and unique ways. this doesn't mean that I do not write music for strictly musical purposes. I founded Beachwood Classical Recordings in 2001 to promote my compositions and those of other living composers.I have composed and recorded 3 symphonies, a violin concerto, and a ballet. I am also working on the release of a jazz album (I am a jazz saxophonist and a classical clarinetist) and a classical CD featuring me playing my clarinet concerto.
