About Me

photographer, tinkerer of images, dabbler in evil-doings, sci-fi nerd

Hmmm... Really... What's to know about me...
I grew up in the Los Angeles area. I landed my first paying photo shoot in 1987. Since then I have known the joy of seeing my work decomposing on poles and billboards all over the streets of Hollywood. My photographs have been published so many times that I stopped keeping track of them long ago.
I've accomplished wonderful things, and I've made disastrous mistakes. Such is life.
I've written articles for some unimpressive publications, however, writing is not one of my better talents.
I was talked into doing the film thing for a bit. The pitch went something like this...
S: It's exactly the same except the film moves...
Uh, yea... right...
A few years later, I moved north to get away from it all for a while. I have experienced life as a normal working person in a small town. Magnificent location, marvelously isolated, friendly people, limited income potential.
Now I find myself again in the city, and back into my photography and a whole new digital world.
This page was created as an outlet of... Well, I don't even exactly know...

My Interests

Photography, film, art of all sorts, and oddities.

The art of Tim Biskup , Mark Ryden , and Gus Clark, just to name a few.

Watching cars turn left.

Very strange plants. Mainly amorphophallus and other aroids, carnivorous plants, cacti, and orchids. If it looks like it came from another planet, I will bring it home.

I'd like to meet:

Creative people with similar interests. I will not consider profiles set to private unless accompanied by an e-mail telling me about yourself and why you would like to be added.

To be added, you must be able to answer these questions three:
What... is your name?
What... is your quest?
What... is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

I really don't get excited about meeting any one person or another, but I would like to attend one of Mark Ryden's showings in person. I have never been at the right place at the right time to attend.

Music:

There's a lot of great music out there. Some of my favorites: The Waterboys, Oingo Boingo, The Plimsouls, X, Blondie, Dr. Steel, NIN, Leahy, Andrea Bocelli, The Ramones, Garbage, The Shins, Dead Can Dance... I enjoy a wide range of music: rock, punk, classical, jazz, traditional, folk, swing, music from all eras, obscure weird stuff, and more.

Movies:

So many movies, so little time...

The Life Aquatic, Adaptation, Highlander, Gattaca, Blade Runner, The Last Emperor, Rebecca, The Jerk, Zorro the Gay Blade, Raising Arizona, Mars Attacks, Galaxy Quest, The Evil Dead Trilogy, The Princess Bride, Joe Dirt, Orgazmo, different films from all eras... Too many to list.

I generally enjoy films with these names attached: Spielberg, Lucas, Raimi, Lovecraft, Hitchcock.

B horror movies.

I will watch anything with Bruce Campbell in it.

I am also captivated by films that are visually intriguing, by cinematography alone or in combination with effects.

Sometimes I enjoy things because they are just outright cheesey.

Television:

Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek (all), My Name is Earl, The Colbert Report, Lexx, Farscape, Xena, Jack of All Trades, Ren & Stimpy, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Dresden Files, The Sarah Silverman Program, Christopher Walken on SNL, anything with Bruce Campbell in it.

Shows I watched as a kid and still love: The Munsters, Gilligan's Island, Land of the Lost, Star Trek TOS, Lost in Space, F-Troop, The Monkees, The Twilight Zone, and so many more...

Books:

Why, yes... I do in fact read. Books, magazines, newspapers, shampoo bottles, food product labels... AND Tina's fantabulous fan fic.

Two of my favorite authors are Stephen King and Anne Rice.

Heroes:

Bruce Campbell, of course!

Haggis - mystical beastie or stomach stuffed with sheep parts?

Now my understanding of haggis was, well, basically the same as Wikipedia defines: Haggis is a traditional Scottish dish. Although there are many recipes, it is normally made with the following ...
