About Me
Who ARE we?
We are people from all regions of the world and from all walks of life - united by a common vision; to strengthen and sustain an actively compassionate humanity. Our movement is open to anyone who pursues this goal.
We call upon all people who are tired of passively waiting for things to change.
Crossroads
We live in critically insecure times. Perceived and real instability is growing in many critical sectors of life. There is crisis in instability, but also hope. The choice depends on how humanity deals with four trends, each enmeshed and interconnected with the others: war, poverty, environmental degradation and human rights abuses. Each threat increases the severity of the other.
These problems are all related and so are the solutions.
Our Intention
To create an alliance of people based on the awareness of humanity’s interconnectedness. We believe that if enough people share the value of peace, war can be brought to an end. If enough people shift their awareness toward social justice, human rights, and environmental sustainability, then injustice, oppression, and the destruction of the ecosystem can be stopped. Such a shift is already occurring - now it needs critical mass, which in turn needs organization. The Alliance aims to connect individuals, caring communities and groups at a global level.
Unity isn't fought for and won. It is realized one person at a time.
Values and Principles
The Alliance recognizes at the core of its vision the unity of all life, and a wholehearted adherence to the noblest aspirations of humankind, as proclaimed in all spiritual and humanist traditions that call for compassion and the celebration of life. The values and principles of the emerging movement for a new humanity, and of the Alliance, which is trying to serve it, are based upon the support of policies, causes and actions that favor respect for life, human dignity, freedom, ecological sustainability and peace. The basic tenet of the Alliance is a consciousness based on the inseparability of all life, i.e., that everything is connected and that therefore our well being is the well-being of everyone. This consciousness we believe cannot be just passive, otherwise it would remain irrelevant, it has to be expressed for the benefit of all through service that improves life for all mankind.
"Action without love is meaningless, and love without action is irrelevant." - Hafsat Abiola
The above stated core set of values and principles will be further developed until a more comprehensive and refined set is established to reflect the aspirations of all those who share the vision of the Alliance. These clearly stated values and principles will allow the big tent strategy to emerge on a grassroots basis by enabling the individuals and organizations to self-identify and participate in the various components of the Alliance strategy.
Scaleable
In order to effectively facilitate a global movement for change, a highly scalable, architecture must be developed to connect, communicate, support, and inspire, while expending the minimal amount of resources necessary to reach the maximum number of organizations and individuals. In order to accomplish this, the Alliance will utilize a four-tier strategy that will allow for various levels of involvement and intensity of experience, and will allow for the movement to self organize and propagate on a grassroots basis.
The four tiers are:
1. Virtual Constellation - a distributed technology architecture that provides the infrastructure and connectivity for ongoing dialogue, connection, and action on a continual basis through the Internet.
2. Physical Constellation - a lightweight model for Constellation organizations to independently implement a Constellation/Alliance segment at their meetings and/or conferences. This will provide a place for individuals to continue co-creating the movement, and to connect with each other.
3. "100 Places with 100 People" - a model in which 100 facilities in the world, who are already in the business of conducting mission-related seminars and retreats, implement a standard model for two to three day Alliance/Constellation workshops/retreats, with ANH affiliated presenters, facilitators, and performers. Examples of this would be Esalen, Omega, Schumacher College, etc.
4. Human Forum - Yearly large-scale gathering involving inspirational speakers, social change agents and individuals, an assembly of people from all walks of life sharing the principles of the Alliance, to impulse, reflect and build onwards the global Alliance movement, and take stock of progress made. This event is supported, planned and executed directly by the Alliance.
This strategy will utilize the network of existing and emerging organizations and individuals to capture the collective wisdom of the movement to achieve our collective mission. Each tier will require varying levels of Alliance human and financial resources.
