Rhodium Records signs Angry Chiwawah to a co-label/distribution deal with Alistar Records - a rock band with heavy guitars, eerie synth textures, and Latin rhythms and drum loops. Inventive nylon guitar textures with vocal hooks and melodies abound. It's solid rock, falling somewhere between Linkin Park's commercialism and the arcane inventiveness of Filter or Nine Inch Nails.
The band is lead by multi-talented Carlos Villalobos, who in 1998 signed with Virgin Records/Higher Octave for his instrumental project, Esperanza. Villalobos, who is also producing the debut Angry Chiwawah album, has done production work and studio session work for over 50 artists and many significant labels, including A&M, Atlantic, EMI, Warner Chappell/Trinity Music, Polygram, Jive, Hollywood Records, Alistar Records, Virgin, and Sony. His work has been heard on HBOs Sex and the City, and he was the writer, producer, and performed all of the original music, including the theme song, for Baywatch Hawaii.
