BAND BIO
Silvertone is a unique story. A short story, as it is still in its infancy; short lived, just a mere child with the attitude and strut of a well seasoned band. A potent blend of personality, vision and a lifelong search for the right outlet, led to the execution and creative hodgepodge that has become Silvertone. This authentic, engaging and captivating sound, is the story of a volcano of creativity brewing for years and years, that has finally erupted on stages in New York City and on their debut EP (Your Song For Me 2007).
Having lived his entire life with the ears of a musician, from early childhood to manhood, it’s remarkable that now at 32 Eric Silverman only began writing songs and learning the guitar 2 years ago. With a firm and natural understanding of sound and texture, as well as an advanced ear with the ability to absorb, Silverman is able to capture every influence and nuance that makes the right music work in the right way. The collection of music on Silvertone’s debut EP “Your Song For Me†and many others that are performed live by the group are a direct result of these abilities. The songs seem to just flow from Silverman as though they had been waiting there, brewing below the surface, waiting to be accessed. Each song is hookier then the next and you are guaranteed to find your self singing them as you attack you day.
Without any training, but a lifetime of experience, there is a classic, vintage, organic and original quality to the music. Within the desire to actually create this modernized urban cowboy rock explosion, the group sought to use real instruments, the best equipment, and the most authentic recording setting, rather than relying on the best of what digital technology has made available.
Songs that began as ideas for Silverman had no choice but to find the right musicians to collaborate, arrange, and create the power of unifying sound with lyric, emotion with output. Guitarist David Lott, keyboardist Scott Burg, Bassist Matt Epstein, and drummer Matt Dean all brought their experience, their influences, their common goals and excitement for the music to create this sound; a 60’s soul, and a 70’s vibe with the growth and experience of the lives before them as well as the 80’s and 90’s which meld the Rolling Stones with CSNY and the Grateful Dead with Soundgarden and the Doors with Queen and Wilco wrapped around Beck inside Steely Dan is where Silvertone begins, and the rest is just an experience that awaits the live audience, the journey of their first EP, and the projects to come.
