Wayyy back in the beginning (late 2003/early 2004) before Heywood were known as Heywood
things were unstable. We had Kevin Sullivan on Lead Guitar, Martin Sheridan on Rythm Guitar
and Vocals, Marc "Sned" Sneddon on Bass and Damien "Damo" McMullen on Drums.
That in itself was somewhat of a problem as Sned was a Guitarist!!
Nonetheless we started writing our own songs but eventually the motivation died down as
we departed from school and communication within the band died down.
After a while we got the band back together without Martin Sheridan, also, Moving Sned
back onto his main instrument -Guitar-. So, then the struggle to find a bassist began,
Long term close friend with some of the band Lee Adam Dornan was eager to join the band
and decided to learn bass to play with the band, currently nameless.
With Lee now on board we developed our sound as Lee developed his skills with the
bass guitar, But, Once again things died down with the band, commucation was extinct.
Later in 2005 the band got back into the practise studio, this time without Kevin Sullivan.
It was now Damo, Lee and Sned, We continued writing songs but only Instrumental.
Around September/October 2005 we we're holding auditions to anyone interested and we
stumbled across Grant "G" Monohan. This completed our instrumental line-up and Grant
added yet another element to our sound.
Still nameless and requiring a singer Grant Volunteered to do the singing to get the
gigging underway and Heywood were born. So now with a "Full Band" and a name to our faces
we completed enough songs to play our first gig in Airdrie.
From there we went form strength to strength writing songs gathering a local fanbase and
getting interest from promoters, BUT, we lacked a certain something ... We played well on
stage but we lacked someone to REALLY grab the crowd's attention and make the live shows
more electric, Hence forth Stuart Hay, the new singer for Heywood, he's blending in with
us and adding his sound and making Heywood what we are today!!
Unfortunatly in late June of 2006 Grant and Lee parted ways with Heywood and the search for a new guitarist and a bass player went underway, Heywood would like to thank them for thier part in the band and know they wouldnt be where they are without their help...thanks boys. But thankfully Heywood got in ttouch with ex "Someone" members Scott Bickerton and Paul Lochran who used to play in the band with Stuart, they both have been auditioned and the remaining Heywood members like what they heard and all that can be says is....MON THE FUCKIN HEYWOOD!!!!!
In Early/Mid 2007, Damo quit the band due to band conflicts. The band however are still going extremely strong playing as a temporary 4 peice with Stuart singing and playing drums. The band released thier self-titled demo in July 2007 and are doing extremely well but the search for a new drummer continues
Heywood recorded thier 2007 demo at Petersburn Recording Studio's. We totally recommend it for any band looking for an amazing recording session. The Sound Engineer, Stuart is the best we've worked with! He knows EXACTLY what to do and he can tell a good sick joke or two haha
