Bio (only for the real fanatics)
Double bass player, born in 1971 in Groningen (The Netherlands).
I studied jazz bass at the Groningen conservatory, but left to finish my degrees in psychology and law at the universities of Groningen and Amsterdam. In those years I played all over Europe with various Dutch symphony orchestras and the band Bernie's Lounge from Amsterdam.
I am active in different musical fields: jazz, classical and baroque music, contemporary music, world music, music for films and theatre. I am glad to have played (from just 10 minutes to 10 years) with: Ernie Watts, Wolter Wierbos, Mario Raja, Gianni Gebbia, Orazio Maugeri, Stefano D’Anna, Armelle Dumoulin, Alexandre Leitao, Antoine Saher, Christophe Monniot, Bernie’s Lounge, Marvi La Spina, Andrea Beneventano, Giovanni Falzone, Lawrence Renes, Raffaele Brancati, Fabrizio Puglisi, Ab Baars, Ig Henneman, Original Kocani Orkestar, Giovanni Sollima, Rares Morarescu, Riadh Fehri, Kenyan singer Harry Kimani at “North Sea Jazz Festival salutes Nairobi”, and many other great musicians and friends. My teachers where: Cas & Hansje Burger (I started when I was six on recorder & violin), Jan Voogd, Paolino della Porta, Furio di Castri. With Hector Mann Music Crew I won the first prize in the international competition of live music for silent movies “Strade del Cinema 2006” and with Villa Sonora the Jur Naessens Muziekprijs 2007 for innovative music.
I'm a member of the multidisciplinary artists' collective and record label Improvvisatore Involontario (I.I.) (Catania, IT). If you have any suggestions for interesting CD's or live projects (music, film, visual arts, poetry) with "unvoluntary improvisers", just drop me a line!
I am proud to be the official dutch-sicilian assistent of the most famous unknown artist Suisse-Marocain (Paris). Next collaboration: underwater art exposition and music!
