Trés Chic for the Chronically Unique or Chronique, if you will!
So many of us have a chronic illness or condition such as Lupus, Chronic Fatigue, Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, Diabetes, Parkinson's, Asthma, Arthritis, Cancer, Osteoporosis, Raynaud's, Crohn's Disease/Ulcerative Colitis, IBS, and many more that threaten to steal our girly-girl-ness right when we are in the prime of life.
Well, Chronique Couture has been established to fight the chronic, turning all that is clinical into Chronically Unique or a Chronique head turner!
I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis June 16, 2006. I began treatment with one of the self injectable disease modifying drugs for MS in September of 2006. My feet get cold, my neck gets stiff, my muscles ache & so on. I know I am preaching to the choir! I purchased various items out of a desire to stay comfortable or out of necessity and came to one conclusion quite promptly: For the most part, it's all UGLY! Ugly, clinical in appearance and things I would more expect to see around a nursing home than in the home or apartment of a 34-year-old woman!
So Chronique Couture asks the questions:

Do all walker bags have to be ho-hum?

Do all canes have to look like your grandmother's?

Should we have to settle for an "emergency red" Sharps container to dispose of needles that is an eye sore & a constant reminder of our injections & disability?

Does the parafernalia we carry or use daily have to look like it was issued at a hospital or clinic?

Our conclusion:

No! No we don't, no we shouldn't & NO WE WON'T!

We have many other hip & fun products for the girly girls. Clothing, accessories, gifts, bath & body & so much more! Chronique Couture has also set up a Chronique Community as a hangout for the Chronically Unique! We offer Cafe Chronique, a top quality message board powered by vbulletin. Also check out the ChroniBlog for updates, info and other fun topics.
We hope you enjoy shopping with us! We urge you to send us any suggestions for products that you would like to see that we might not have in stock yet.
Be well!

Website and Product Review: Chronique Couture
-Christine Miserandino, But You Don't Look Sick

I have just discovered my new favorite website- beside my own of course. It's called Chronique Couture and it was begun a year ago by a young woman named Kimberly who was diagnosed with MS. Like most young women, she was saddened by the lack of practical, yet fashionable "medical accessories." Anyone who has to deal with a chronic illness knows how much the little things in life can lift your spirits. This website features items to make your life easier, as well as put a smile on your face

The website itself is fun to peruse, with bold and colorful backgrounds and a sassy and chic look. If you deserve a treat or you need a gift for someone who struggles with a chronic illness, this is a great place to shop...

I'd like to meet:

Being Normal

What would you give to be normal, she asked
Looking me straight in the eye
I paused a moment in order to give
A completely honest reply

What would I give to be normal
The question, itself, wasn't new
Quick to mind came all the things
I could now no longer do

The list was long, and the list was sad
Of that I was painfully sure
I could sit a while, with my "losses list"
And continually add to it more

I returned my thoughts to the question
What did it really mean
And decided the answer was simpler
Than at first, to me, it seemed

I faced my well intended friend
My response, I knew, was true
In every way that matters the most
I'm just as normal as you

My world is restricted and narrow
Compared to where you reside
But it doesn't mean my spirit or soul
Need lessen in worth or size

No matter how wakened my body
I'll persist at any length
Not to allow my frailties
To negate my inner strengths

I wish, I hope, I dream, I pray
Quite often, I sit and cry
As long as there's laughter and love in my life
I'll know I'll continue to try

As children of our creator
We're equally valued the same
We're not defined by health or wealth
Position, power, or fame

I may never be fully, physically well
While here upon our earth
But normal or not, I'll do my best
Not to let it determine my worth
