Born in Brescia (Italy) in 1983, he started playing piano at the age of eight and drums at twelve. He studied drums on his own, and took piano lessons with Roberto Soggetti and Corrado Guarino. In 2005 he began studying classical piano with Massimiliano Motterle.
He started playing jazz seriously in 2000, after meeting Corrado Guarino and William Tononi, then attending Berklee Summer Masterclasses at Umbria Jazz '01, where he was recognized for Outstanding Musicianship. He studied Trio Performance at Fondazione Siena Jazz from 2001 until 2003 with pianist Stefano Battaglia, bassist Paolino Dalla Porta and drummer Fabrizio Sferra. He attended Siena Jazz Summer Masterclasses twice (2003 and 2004), receiving a scolarship to join the 14th IASJ Meeting in Freiburg, Germany. There he met the American tenor saxophonist Daniel Kinzelman, with whom he began to work regularly.
He joined Theatrum (Permanent Musical Research Laboratories led by Stefano Battaglia) in 2003. He met Enrico Rava in 2004 and started playing in his groups (Rava Under 21, Enrico Rava New Generation and Enrico Rava Quintet, from 2004 until 2007). As a sideman, he plays with Emanuele Cisi, Roberto Cecchetto, Walter Beltrami, Simone Guiducci, Fausto Beccalossi, Francesco Bearzatti, Ares Tavolazzi, Furio di Castri, and others.
Both as a drummer and as a pianist, he's working on improvisation and his own compositions with different musicians (Kinzelman, Lipp, Biasi, Fabrizio Saiu, Giulio Corini, Maurizio Rinaldi, Corrado Saija). He also works with songwriters Marco Parente and Paolo Cattaneo. A few months ago he joined Minidischi, an electronic improvised music project. He teaches drums in his area.
