When Gustavo and John-E founded Stereo Addiction they were far from thinking that six years later they would be the Portuguese ambassadors in one of the largest music festivals of the world. They have been invited to perform at the Lisbon Rock in Rio 2008 where they will star next to some of the best names of music from the world like Lenny Kravitz, Amy Winehouse or Joss Stone. It will be in the Electronic Tent next to legends Tony Humphries, Carl Cox, Sasha & Digweed, DJ Vibe or Paul Van Dyk, that Stereo Addiction will perform in the largest event of the year in Portugal. We do not doubt this will be one of the highs of the short career of this duo of DJ/Producers from Lisbon.
It is also in 2008 that Stereo Addiction will have their largest editorial adventure. After editions with labels like the Aenaria Tech (from Italian Luca Ricci) and New Breed, it is the time for Kismet. The label from London based Portuguese producer, Rui da Silva, has maintained Stereo Addiction under his radar and they are his new bet for two new releases.
Rui da Silva is one of the pioneers of electronic music in Portugal and the famous producer in Underground Sound Of Lisbon –and responsible for the most legendary anthem of Portuguese dance music, the single “So Get up†- In 2000 he released the single “Touch Me†and reached the nº 1 single on the UK charts.
One of his most recent themes “Wet Yourselfâ€, has a remix by Stereo Addiction. But the connection between these Portuguese DJ’s does not end here, an original theme by John-E, “Melt-a-Seltzerâ€, that has already been edited by New Breed, Will have a new vinyl edition by Kismet. Also to make a stronger point on this launch Rui da Silva himself will remix the theme, from a remix of Stereo Addiction.
With the quality seal from Rui da Silva and Kismet, little doubt remains that from now on, nothing will be the same for the producing ways of this duo.
The enthusiasm that they create when they perform on the dance floors and the ascending trajectory of Stereo Addiction has echoed a bit over everywhere. After having performed at the Lux Club or at Creamfields-Lisboa in 2007, it was not a surprise when the Portuguese magazine “Dance Club†elected them as the promises for 2008. There was also no surprise when it was understood that the visibility of Stereo Addiction started to attract brands that were interested in association to their image.
This was what happened recently with the deal that was made between the Brazilian clothes brand Osklen and Stereo Addiction – The DJ’s and Producers are the last signing to the Osklen family that includes surfers, actors, artists, skaters or musicians.
It is already with an enthusiastic trajectory that Stereo Addiction face the year of 2008. We know that with them there will be enthusiasm when they perform and that the records with their name on them will have a genuine sound. This is because they are powered by a unique passion for music and a will not to copy anybody. The year is just begun and we are already talking about them. 2008 shall be the year of the explosion of Stereo Addiction.
