Pedro "Seph" Alves is the person behind Open Up Records, a proggy label that belongs to Critical Rhythm´s Group (based in London) and manages several labels like Baroque, Trojan, Sprout, Babylon, Nascent or Bozboz, among many others.
Forever involved in the portuguese dance scene, promoting regular events and artists since ´97, it was only in 2001 that he started Djing. Didnt take long before he became one of Lisbon´s hottest and most active Djs from this new talented generation, playing in some of the biggest Festivals in Portugal like Freedom Festival or Optimus Hype @ Meco, as well as being invited to play in the most respected clubs like Lux, Vaticano, Pacha, Nuts, Industria, Op Art, Queens, or Tamariz ... and still promoting his regular label events.
Outside Portugal and though a very short career, music has already taken Seph to places like London, Brighton, Stockholm, Gothembourg, Barcelona, Madrid, Hamburg, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Bahia (UP Festival), Mexico City, Acapulco, Cancun, Bombay, or Amsterdam, to name a few.
With a wide musical spectrum, one can expect almost anything from one of his sets, from electro to proggy house , from clubby tech to minimal techno, but always keeping up that groovy danceable feel to it. Versatile is Seph´s middle name and he´s equally at home playing different sorts of music, creating unique and eloquent sets and devastating dancefloors, with the simple aim of delivering good party music everywhere he goes and constantly rockin da floor.
This is actually the reason why Seph has played with such a huge variety of different artists like Chris Fortier, Timo Maas, Jimmy Van M, Alex Smoke, Kasey Taylor, Martinez, Monoroom, Atmos, Peter Juergens, Bushwacka, Steve Bug, Ticon, Ace Ventura, Emok, Jokke Ilsoe, Tom Clark, Luis Paris, Fluke, D-nox, Murat Uncuoglu, Sebastian Krueger, Beckers, Andre Absolut, Minilogue, Lutzenkirchen, Mapusa Mapusa, Antix, James Monro, Flowjob, Brisker & Magitman, Haldolium, Rhythm Code, Chris Lake, Sally Doollally, Tim Healey, Steve Angello, Criss Source, or Dominic Plaza.
Known for his sharp choice of themes and perfect crowdpleasing awareness, Pedro Seph is definetely a name to to watch out in the nearest future and it´s only fair to say that there´s much to expect from this talented Dj ... no boundaries, thats for sure... plans for the near future also include spending more time in the studio producing music and the starting of Little Sister Recordings, wich will focus on a more techno/ electro aproach to dancefloors worlwide...Stay tuned.
