About Me
Born in August 1977, Bart Cruz has been a music lover for as long as he can remember. He started collecting vinyl and went on to DJ’ing 6 years ago and is now one of the most promising portuguese DJs. Together with DJ Diogo, he’s the man behind Feed Me Records, a new progressive/techy/deep house record label, the first of its kind in Portugal, a truly alternative, underground platform for the development of electronic craftsmanship, intended to make a bridge between new talented portuguese producers and some of the world’s finest producers. Behind the decks Bart pounds deep, solid grooves, from dubby and techy atmospheric house to a more punishing techno or minimal trance, always cut to the crowd’s demands. No cheese involved in the process… Just sharp mixing skills and fine selection to create an explosive mix of styles, never compromising the set’s consistency as a whole. This is why he is considered by many to be one of the most talented portuguese djs of the new generation.Besides all kinds of parties and clubs in Portugal, from the most posh to the dirtiest and sleaziest of them, Bart has played in Amsterdam (Queen’s Day party 2002, for over 2000 people) and Madrid (for four times, the latest in January 2003), and more recently at the Fusion Festival 2003 in Germany, an event that, overall, held around 20 000 people. Also in 2003 Bart had a monthly residency (promoted by Da Providers) at one of the finest clubs in Lisbon, Indústria, where he played with guests the likes of Anthony Pappa, Kasey Taylor, Quivver, Chris Cargo, Karlos Elizondo, Steve Parry, Tim Healey and Minilogue, to name a few. In 2004 Bart played in Germany at Die Grube club and numerous parties in Portugal, with the likes of James Zabiela, Mara, Paul Rogers and Anthony Pappa, setting off the year with a promising start. But the highlight of the year was definitely the biggest electronic music festival in Portugal (Optimus Hype@Meco), where he shared the decks with Dave Seaman, Infusion Live and Kasey Taylor, among others. In 2005 there are already a few gigs to watch out for, namely with Hernan Cattaneo, Cass and Infusion again, among many others, as well as a trip to Russia for a Feed Me Label Party. Bart also made several guest-mixes, for the radio shows of people such as Kasey Taylor, Deepsky and Stephan Hinz.Recently Bart has joined OfirProd DJ agency and shares a monthly slot with DJ John-e on the GlobalScum Show on Dinamo 103.8 FM (Turkey). He also appears regularly on Germany's Plattenleger radio show, alonside the likes of James Holden, MANDY, Gabriel & Dresden, Timo Maas and many more.On the production side, his first record out was a joint effort with Kasey Taylor, John-e, Chris Meehan and DJ Gustavo (Quintek's "One Flew Over") on Vapour Recs of Australia. Also with John-e, Bart Cruz recently released an very well received remix of Hernan Cerbello's "Dot Groovy" for Globalscum, and has a collaboration with russian Moonbeam coming out shortly. He's also one of The Swingers, with good friends Stephan Hinz and John-e as well, a name you'll certainly hear more from in the near future. With the label's releases getting great response worldwide, both from A and B-list DJs and bedroom Djs alike, and with the first productions seeing the light of day, things are looking good for Bart Cruz.Get Your Own! | View Slideshow..
