*Stan's sayings* - "You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead." "He who filters your good name, steals trash." "Neither do I, too." "What a terrible cat's-after-me." "You bet your life I'm right...I'm not as dumb as you look." "I was dreaming I was awake, and then I woke up and found myself asleep." "Say listen. If you had a face like mine, you'd punch me right in the nose. And I'm just the fellow who can do it." Lola: "Tell me about my dear, dear Daddy; is it true that he's dead?"
Stan: "Well, we hope he is, they buried him." "Any bird can build a nest but it isn't everyone that can lay an egg."
*Ollie's sayings* - "Well, here's another nice mess you've gotten me into!" "Why don't you do something to HELP me?" "It's a certainty that anything you can do, I can do." "When a Hardy makes his mind up, it's as firm as the Rock of Gibralter!" "You know, there's a right and wrong way to do everything." "Don't keep doing that. You sound like a seal!" "Excuse me please, my ear is full of milk." "At last you're using MY brain!" "She probably has a face that could stop a clock." "I know she went out, but what I'd like to know is where did she went?"
Stan: "Say, what do you think I am, Cinderella? If I had any sense I'd walk out on you."
Ollie: "Well it's a good thing you haven't any sense!"
Our casual fans and of course those who belong to the "Sons of the Desert," a legion of Laurel & Hardy aficionados who get together to watch our films on a monthly basis.
"We are the Sons of the Desert,
Having the time of our lives,
Marching along, two thousand strong,
Far from our sweethearts and wives,
God bless them.
Tram, tramp, tramp the boys are marching
and dancing to this melody...
Dah...dah...dah...dah...dah...
Dah...dah...dah...dah...dah...
Sons of the Desert are we."
Mrs. Hardy and Mrs. Laurel...looking upset with us as usual.
This is a scene from The Music Box (which won an Academy
Award in 1932) where the plot lies on our persistency
to carry a heavy piano up a large flight of stairs.
Way Out West is one of our most memorable films
due to its great storyline and enjoyable song & dance numbers.
Our feature film, Sons of the Desert, was number 96
on AFI's "100 Years...100 Laughs" TV Special.
The first of many full-length features,
Pardon Us finds us in trouble with the law.
The Devil's Brother, a.k.a. Fra Diavolo, has us
playing clumsy bandits during the 18th Century.
Block-Heads stands out as one of the best
films we shot in the latter years.
One of our most famous films--a true holiday classic:
Can the Boys survive a school semester in
England's very own Oxford University?
The Bohemian Girl depicts Stan & Ollie as gypsieswho become caregivers to a beautiful princess.
