I was born in Paris but soon moved to Brussels.
I started to play folk-music, then jazz-rock before I got interested in computer-aided musical composition.
A trip to Zaire in 1989 gave me the opportunity to get acquainted with African music.
I started to be active as a producer-arranger for various African artists a bit later. Up to now I have produced/directed/ played in 5 CDs.
Embowassa : Tuta Weza (1992)
Dominic Kakolobango : Habari Za Kwetu (1995)
Malick Pathé Sow & Welnere : Danniyanke (1998)
, Diariyata (2002)
Pas Mal + : Chacun Pour Soi (2004)
The sixth Muzungu (January 2006) is the first under my name and features my afro-jazz compositions. It is a mix of intello jazz and african rythms, mainly from Congo, Rwanda and Burundi.
I am currently working on a new afro-jazz CD, which will be mainly centered on west-african music. Provisional title Xelu Sowu ("The Spirit of the West" in wolof).
