We are Thee Stag Knights and this is your party!

About Me

Thee Stag Knights first came together in early 2000 as a three piece featuring Ben Butler (ex Popemobile, Masonite) on guitar, Adele Daniele on drums and vocals (ex Vena Cava, Silence Is Golden, Mushishka) and Iain McIntyre (ninetynine, ex Kokoshkar, The Authentics) on bass and shouting. Informed by a love of raw 60s rock n roll and trashy exotica the band soon added Lou Conroy (Dworzec) on baritone sax and vocals.Playing numerous shambolic shows at the fabulous Town Hall and other illustrious venues around Melbourne the band recorded their debut album with Steve Hickmott in September 2000. Recorded in the front room of Iain's weatherboard digs "Thee Stag Knights... Play A Wild Affair" was released with individually silk screened covers designed by Ms Daniele. The album caught the band in fine form laying down sassy and sexy beats and riffs while screaming about burning buildings, rock n roll, cremation, pirates, hell hounds, more burning buildings and other topics vital to the day.Lou bowed out of the band in 2001 and after a period as a trio Nicole Hurtabise (Trixies Undersea Adventure) came on board with keyboards and vocals. Around this time the band added a few 70s style rockers to their set including the epochal 'Evie Part 4' in which the true fate of Evie was revealed (she left Stevie due to his drug habits and became a truck driver). The band laid fairly low during over the next few years playing only a few shows before reverting to a three piece. Briefly changing their name to Rock Hudson in 2003 to indulge Iain's penchant for playing rudimentary guitar they switched back to their classic line up in 2004. During that year the band recorded a live-in-the-studio cover of The Atlantics "CMon" for the Wild About You! tribute CD to mid 1960s Australia rock n roll (which accompanied a book Iain had co-written on the subject with Ian Marks, www.3cr.org.au/way). Assisting on this track and a cover of The Missing Links backmasking classic "H'Tuom Tuhs" under the name of The Lucy Parsons Experience was Todd Trevor (Blacklist, ex Warped). In the middle of that year the band took an extended break while Iain headed overseas to play with The Hatchetmen (www.myspace.com/thehatchetmen2), Ben concentrated on guitar work with other bands and Adele set up her graphic design business (www.becauseilikeyou.com.au)Thee Stag Knights fully reloaded in 2005 with the addition of Laila Marie Costa Ramone (ex Four OClock Shadow, The Drycleaners and too many other bands to mention here) on guitar, vocals and keyboards. Playing a bunch of shows, mainly at The Tote, the band recorded "Santa's Been A Naughty Boy" for the 2005 Rock Against Bullshit Christmas compilation. In 2006 the band have honed their twin guitar assault adding a number of new songs, playing The Tote and recently laying down a bunch of tracks with Laura MacFarlane at Backyard Charlies. Watch out for upcoming shows and a new release soon!
