About Me

You wanted the best.....you've got the greatest..........Apes that is...'The Great Apes', comin at ya with more fang mouthed, puffy red-arsed psych-pop than you can stomach. The diversity of this whooping sextet's original repetoire can only be likened to the myriad of species in the primate kingdom. The band's sound can be described as gibbon-like in intensity, while maintaining the emotional warmth of a mother baboon suckling her young... The delicate aggression of Iain Wilson's drum work complements the primal thud of Zane Lynd's Bass, while loveable chimp Dudley "fingers" Farrow swings through the trees of cool on keys/vocoder. The Diane Fossey of the group - Emily "miss understood" Jarrett (piano/organ/percussion) hears some rustling in a nearby bush.... Then, behold........Cal Walker... The silverback, sending the mating call out to the rest of the jungle via his telecaster. Rounding out the six on lead vocals, 12 string rickenbacker and other..... Dr. Moreau himself -- Will Hindmarsh assumes the head songwriters mantle among other authoritative positions. All in all...... buckle up for a whirlwind ride with The Great Apes. Apes never sounded so good....
