Fee Brown & the Highwater

Currently recording debut album.... : )

About Me

Fee Brown sounds like she belongs in some dark, smoky scene of a David Lynch or Quentin Tarantino movie. She was born on the banks of the Murray River with a guitar in one hand & a whisky in the other and once she discovered her flyin’ shoes at age 19 she joined the ranks of travellin’ troubadours and took her music and her cowboy boots to all corners of the world. She’s mesmerised Berber’s in the Sahara desert, busked to Scotsmen in the Edinburgh snow, Jammed with U.S. music legends in America’s deep south and sang her heart out alongside 80 year old Sean nós singers at Irish trad sessions. In 2006 she supported Nashville singer-songwriter Steve Forbert at Dublin’s beloved live music venue Whelans and at the same venue performed in a tribute night to one of her musical hero’s Townes Van Zandt for the 10th anniversary of his death. In 2008 she’s bringing it all back home to Melbourne town and alongside her newly formed band ‘the Highwater’ featuring the stellar line-up of lead guitar wonder Damien Hooper, percussion genius Tim Scanlan & double-bass maestro Chris Pain it’s a recording she will go with their debut album anticipated to arrive late this year.In the meantime, Fee & the Highwater can be caught performing their sweet, dark, country/folk tinged tunes at all Melbourne’s favourite live music venues. Prepare to be captivated.
