About Me

.. It's not always about me.

My Interests

Living and loving life with my beautiful wife Laila. Music, both live and recorded, vinyl but not CD's, cricket, both playing and its statistics, horror movies, good cop shows, even better porn, DVD box sets, hanging out with friends at the pub, footy-suffering inflicted by the Richmond Tigers (year in, year out), traveling overseas, reading, camping and making lists.

I'd like to meet:

As my office walls are adorned with pictures of me with Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Clem Burke (Blondie), Joe Strummer (Clash), Richie Benaud (great Australian captain and spin bowler), Jack White (White Stripes), Dave Vanian and Rat Scabies (The Damned) and Australia's greatest ever fast bowler Dennis Lillee amongst others, let's hope you become famous enough to make it onto my wall.If only there was a camera handy when I met Marky, Johnny (r.i.p.), CJ and Joey (r.i.p.). Would've loved to have one also when, on the streets of Birmingham in 1989, I bumped into future Australian captain Steve Waugh, as he sat on 345 runs from 3 innings without being dismissed. Legend.

Music:

Punk rock. Garage rock. I hate jazz and folk music. Cool instrumentals. Noise rock. Metal. Pop rock. The New New Wave. The Old New Wave. The 60's. The 70's. Aussie rock. The Saints. Swedish rock. Union Carbide Productions. Not twee rock. 60's rock. The Stooges. 70's rock. The Real Kids. Italian soundtracks. Goblin. Too many albums, not enough years to listen.

Movies:

Horror, especially anything by Dario Argento, zombie movies such as 28 Days Later (brilliant!), Night of / Dawn of (including the awesome remake) / and Day of the Dead but not Land of the Dead, it's a shtinker!! Superhero and/or comic book movies - as a result of collecting for about 21 years I'm fascinated with what they are doing with the X-Men, 300, Hulk, Fantastic Four, Hellboy, Spiderman, Hellblazer (Constantine), and Batman Begins movies but can live without Daredevil or Elektra (shtinkers!). Looking forward to Garth Ennis' Preacher books being converted to celluloid. How about The Avengers? Anything by Lars Von Trier, Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, Troy Solondz, Stanley Kubrick. CURRENT: The Host (film of the year?!) PAST: March of the Pengiuns, Taxi Driver, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Spinal Tap, Tribute: A Rockumentary, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original, not lame Hollywood remake!), Adventures of Barry McKenzie, Barry McKenzie Holds His Own (the most politically incorrect film ever?!), golden age porn (1970's - 1984), Rock'n'Roll High School, Eraserhead, Evil Dead, Happiness, Duel. NOT STAR WARS.

Television:

CURRENT: The Wire (best cop show around by far, 4th season about to start soon!), Sopranos (you'll see me in one of what-I-like-to-refer-to-as my James Gandolfini shirts soon enough! I've even got the matching stomach!), Oz (I was a closet Prisoner fan when I was very young, ask me about it sometime...), Six Feet Under, Happy Tree Friends and friends, Angry Kid, The Apprentice ("good morning Mr. Trump"), The Surreal Life (best reality show Australia has never seen, look for it to be screened at the Tote on Monday nights soon!), Nip/Tuck (Julian McMahon was married to Dannii M.?!?), Law And Order (although rapidly losing interest, too many spin-offs), Blowout (U.S hairdressing reality show that's totally ridiculous!), Growing Up Gotti (based on the life of John Gotti's widow and their kids and it's absurd!)PAST: The Office (looking forward to getting around to watching Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant new series Extras), Homicide: Life On The Street, Simpsons, The Lakes (BBC drama), Rock Arena, Boomtown, Monkey, Young Persons Guide To Becoming A Rockstar (hilarious Scottish 6-part series)

Books:

Having looked over my book collection, an ex-girlfriend once declared "all the books you own are about music or cricket". I went out and bought Dostoyevsky's "Crime And Punishment". I haven't read it. I've enjoyed Please Kill Me (who didn't?!), On The Road With The Ramones, Black Monk Time, Poison Heart: Surviving The Ramones, Too Much Too Soon (New York Dolls), Radio Birdman, Ramones: An American Band, and the Great Indie Discography. I've also loved the Preacher series of graphic novels and True Faith by Garth Ennis, From Hell and the Watchmen by Alan Moore, Sin City (Frank Miller), anything by Daniel Clowes, Kyle Baker, Chester Brown, and Robert Crumb. Horror novels, true crime and crime fiction (especially Garry Disher's Wyatt series) and books on serial killers such as Night Stalker (Richard Ramirez), The Man Who Could Not Kill Enough (Dahmer), Killer Clown (Gacy) and Henry Lee Lucas. Oh yeah, I like cricket books too.

Heroes:

Donald "the Don" Bradman, my mum, Abbotsford Anglers, the Ramones, Iggy Pop, Donald Trump (rockstar wannabe!), Dave Thomas, Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer, Clem Burke, Homer Simpson.

My pet fucking hate at the supermarket - and I could be talking about you!

You know the little red baskets that you walk around filling with items at the supermarket until you're ready to checkout? Why do so many people find it difficult to place the fucking handles back down...
