About Me

Eliza has been playing the violin for about 20 years. At age 11 Eliza was touring the UK and at age 14 she was invited to become a member of the Oklahoma Sinfonia. She was awarded the esteemed Franco-Autori Memorial Scholarship and at age 16, was invited to tour Australia. Eliza moved to Los Angeles while still in highschool to pursue her professional career. She currently works in television, film and music videos and contracts session players on a regular basis. Eliza has performed at many famous concert venues/festivals including The Grammy Awards(2008), The Academy Awards (2007), Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Playboy Jazz Festival, Hollywood Bowl, Caesar's Palace, The Mirage, the Women in Film Awards and the Sundance Film Festival.Eliza has graced the stage as a featured performer with many established artists including Burt Bacharach, Shakira, John Legend, Daft Punk, Kanye West, Roberta Flack, Willie Chambers (The Chambers Brothers), Harry Connick Jr, David Gates/Bread, Bernadette Peters, Ill Nino, Randy Travis, Billy Idol, Los Tri-o, Javuni, Rahzel, 3 Doors Down, Andrea Bocelli, Phil Crosby Jr., Norwood Fisher(Fishbone), Jimmy Haslip, Oscar Seaton, The Spazmatics, Alejandro Sanz, Chris Botti, The Harlem Renaissance Jazz Orchestra, Oscar Peterson, Diana Krall, Renee Olstead, Dave Schulz, Cody Carpenter and The Calling. She has played under many great conducters including Michael Tilson-Thomas, Kent Nagano, David Barg and John Williams.Her resume includes the soundtracks for films such as March of the Penguins, A Lot Like Love, Unaccompanied Minors, Talladega Nights, Walk Hard-The Dewey Cox Story and many others.Eliza can also be heard on the soon-to-be released record by Sleepy Brown and the newest record by Krazy Bone (Bone Thugs N Harmony),Paul Chesne's debut record "Wet Dog Man," and "Imago" by the Australian band, The Butterfly Effect, and the song "Soldier's March" written by John Otto and the band Stereochemix.She has worked with many producers including David Foster, Ted Pearlman, Bruce Robb, Joe Barresi, John Otto, DJ Lethal, Curt Piar, Mitch Marine, Marc Jordan, Mark Needham, Richie Stites and Nigel Starr.Eliza is writing with her new all-girl rock band and is singing, playing 5-string electric violin and electric guitar. She recently recorded some new songs (solo) written by Burt Bacharach/Tonio K and Burt Bacharach/Hal David that have not been released at this time.She tours regularly with Burt Bacharach (as a featured soloist), the Larry Bagby Band, Mass Ensemble and Paul Chesne. Eliza also performs with the Young Musician's Foundation Debut Orchestra, Downey Symphony, Burbank Philharmonic, Dakah Hip Hop Orchestra, American Youth Symphony and Elvis Schoenberg's Orchestre Surreal.Eliza studied privately (and continues to study) with teachers from The Juilliard School, The Cleveland Institute of Music, and Curtis (Philadelphia). Music:

I love all kinds of good music. I love Shostakovich (1,7,8th string quartets...awesome.), Beethoven (2nd movement 7th symphony...heart wrenching genius), Brahms (String quartet Op 51 ..1 is to DIE for...), Barber, Korngold (the violin concerto is amazing), Tschaikovsky, The Beatles, Led Zepplin, Yes, Genesis, Rush, Foreigner, SoundGarden, Foo Fighters, Limp Bizkit, Sun-Zoo, Stereochemix, When November Falls, Silverchair, Queens of the Stoneage, Jimi Hendrix, Renee Fleming, Diana Krall, Burt Bacharach (a GENIUS),Elvis Costello, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Django Reinhart, Stefan Grapelli, Joe Venuti, Stuff Smith...but this is just a small sampling of the music i love.

Movies:

Every time I see Talledega Nights I cant stop laughing. I love the Bourne movies. Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn is one of my all time faves. I love her. She's my favourite actress of all time. There are a LOT of movies I like. But I haven't seen them all so I'm not sure which are my favourites.

Television:

You know, i don't watch television much but there was this GREAT series called "Firefly" that I watched on DVD and I LOVE IT. Southpark, Family Guy, the Simpsons, The Dog Whisperer and who could live without 24? I always have to buy the DVD sets for everything because I don't have time to watch tv. I like to watch live music performances, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel and Biographies about interesting people. Mythbusters is great!

Books:

Feminine Mystique (betty friedan), Narcissus and Goldmund (Herman Hess), Geek Love (Katherine Dunn), The Chronicles of Narnia (CS Lewis), Swallows and Amazons series (Arthur Ransome) and many many more. I love poetry and write a lot of it myself!

Heroes:

In no hierarchical order whatsoever...David Barg, orchestra conductor and friend extraordinaire who has always comforted me, been honest with me, congratulated me and encouraged me to be the best that I can be. My parents because they have 9 kids and we all turned out pretty ok. (at least, i hope. some are still "turning out" so to speak.) well and because my parents are pretty amazing. My very first violin teacher, Mrs. Marilyn George. For teaching me to love music with my soul. Lina because she is crazy and two crazies are better than one. Brian Abe, Jason Wayne, and my best friends since elementary school...Bekah and Caitie because they are my family. I love them sooooo much.John Otto because he is my bestest friend and the best boyfriend in all the world. He is the most honest, funniest, kindest, sweetest, loyal, encouraging and talented person I know. I love him and being with him makes me very very happy. I am the luckiest girl in all the world.
