About Me

I play drums with a lot of people.1. Psych! Started by Rich Gaglia, the original trio began as an all original project. After being in many cover bands Rich decided to try to bring back music as an art form. Taking a basic guitar, bass and drums concept he added over the top guitar solos, vocals and tossed in some funk grooves for good measure. In 2002 the lineup changed and he asked John to play on the first Psych! CD/EP called 101. John played to an already done (6 songs) totally replacing the drums that were originally on the tunes. Not only is this an almost impossible task, but John and the band had never played together once, even until today. Rich Gaglia says "you can judge for yourself to see how amazingly perfect the feel of these songs were captured." They've remained great friends throughout the years and John is currently the in-house drummer at Rich Sound, a studio that Gaglia owns in NY.2. Bernadette McCallion Bernadette met John through an ad that she had in a local NY paper searching for a drummer. After the two had a brief phone interview, they met and the drumming position was filled. She has gone through many different genres and styles having John play any drumming that's needed. She says "There are so many drummers in NYC but finding a great one is really difficult." Since then Bernadette has done 2 Techno projects which are likened to the sound of More Cheeba and Frou Frou. Check out both of these links to find out what she is currently doing.3. Little Anthony And The Imperials Little Anthony and the Imperials have the distinction of being the only vocal group originating in the '50s that has performed with all the original members up until 2005 when one vocalist was replaced. This successful group has played to sold-out appearances at concert halls and performance venues throughout the U.S., including Madison Square Garden in New York and the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles. John's current involvement with Little Anthony and the Imperials has been a great success in his musical career. John says "every time we set out to perform, audiences young and old appreciate these legendary performers."4. The Marlowes - a rock & roll band with one foot in the grave and the other one in the gutter. The Marlowes are a five-piece rock & roll/power pop band from Providence, Rhode Island. There accessible, melodically-charged tunes enabled them to receive their first significant national exposure via radio, touring and mounds of favorable press. They receive enthusiastic reviews and sales as well as significant airplay in France, Brazil, Japan, Australia and Spain. The Marlowes also played at the influential International Pop Overthrow Festival in Los Angeles at the storied El Rey Theater on a bill that included Velvet Crush, the Tories and John Faye of the Caulfields.they've been on numerous compilations as well as contributed their version of the Replacements' "Alex Chilton" to Left of the Dial: A Pop Tribute to the Replacements.5. Pushing Red Buttons John is also the drummer for the NYC based Progressive Pop studio band Pushing Red Buttons. PROG-RESISTE MAGAZINE has dubbed Pushing Red Buttons the "New Popes of Intelligent Pop Music" and ROCK UNITED has hailed them as "The Underground Kings of Weird Rock". Formed in 2001 by keyboardist Steve Herrig, Pushing Red Buttons have released three CDs to date. John joined the group, along with his fellow PSYCH ! members Rich Gaglia & Rich Chapple, in 2002 and played on the last two PRB recordings and is currently working on the band's fourth CD.6. The Paul Zunno Band Paul and John met through a mutual friend, Zerrick Foster, who was Paul's original bassist. The trio made there first CD called Black & White & blues all over which spotlights the blues/rock edge of this group. Their first gig was actually where they met and Paul knew from that point, John was the right choice. They tour a lot on the east coast and Midwest as well as play many NYC venues.7. Promark Sticks John's been an endorser of Promark sticks for several years. Throughout his long standing career he has always relied on the supreme quality of Promark. From early on he noticed that many of his mentors and top influences used Promark. One of his first teachers, the late Alan Dawson, also used them and since then John won't play a lick without his Promarks.
