Onome

Ya can't mock or mimic this, my spirit's limitless

About Me

My name is Onome, pronounced like "On a May" afternoon. I come from a long line of wordsmiths, storytellers and folk artists from Urhoboland in the Nigerian delta.

I am a New York-based vocalist, performance artist and poet. I'm seeking collaborators to create and gig with - specifically a guitarist/cellist/electronica whiz to round out my band and co-create a rapturously hypnotic bluesy groovy artpop vibe. Imagine putting Meshell Ndegeocello, Willis, Cinematic Orchestra, M.I.A. and Radiohead in a blender. It still wouldn't sound quite like what I hear in my head, but that would be one interesting smoothie. I'm pleased to meet you.
