About Me

I'm one of those people who followed their heart and became a musician & audio engineer instead of a lawyer, accountant, or a doctor... no regrets, I always knew I was a musician.
Owner and Chief Engineer of Terra Nova Mastering since 1990. Earned a few thousand CD credits along the way... this is my passion! Here's the link to the Studio:

I was a dedicated guitarist from about 1966 till I quit playing professionally in the early '90s. Mastering records simply took over for me. I still play a bit at home for fun, but my chops are all but gone...
Got my 1st tape recorder in the early '60's, and my 1st guitar about 1966. At one point I made a pretty good living as a bass player. I was in the "house band" at the original Stubbs BBQ in Lubbock, Texas. Always had a tape recorder around the house, and always involved with a studio of some sort.
I like people who are straightforward, honest, and laugh their way thru life's problems... like my wife Diane !
My advice, decide what you want in life, and go for it, no one's gonna hand you the brass ring. you gotta grab it yourself... Godspeed!
I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.1

My Interests

Modern Art; Picasso, Van Gogh, Kandinsky, and Dali.
Spicy Asian Food.
Big fast cars and trucks, esp the vintage ones.
Chi Gung, and Tai Chi... amazing stuff.

I'd like to meet:

Well I've met many, many great musicians.

I suppose I'd like to meet Robert Duvall, he's a great actor, seems like a real stand up guy, and I like his movies... esp Lonesome Dove and that one where he's a fallen rattlesnake preacher.

Music:

Diverse Taste; Beatles, Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Mozart, Miles Davis, and Steely Dan... amongst a few thousand others... and of course Texas Music and Americana.
Miklos Rozsa: Three Choral Suites...the Miracle sections.

Movies:

Sci-Fi movies, even the cheesy ones, esp the Alien, Thing, and Predator varieties.

Television:

imo TV is largely a waste of time, turn it off and do something... play your guitar!

Books:

As a boy, I loved adventure books; Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert Louis Stevenson, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Edgar Allan Poe, etc... Also loved reading the encyclopedias...

As an adult I read mainly non-fiction information books, world almanac, world atlas, etc.

Heroes:

My Dad, Nathan Tubb.

Early Musical Influences

When I was growing up, I was naturally attracted to my older brother's (and sister's) 45rpm record collection, mostly '50s Rock & Roll. Nearly wore the grooves off of 'em. Elvis, Buddy Holly, Jerry Le...

Great Guitars

How do you like the 1971 pic with Lester Paul Jr. and Leo Fender Bassman stack? Notice the curly cords. One channel is jumped to the other. I gave $75 for the guitar... now it'd be worth thousands... ...
