Don Wise began playing alto-saxophone at the age of 12 in 1954,and switched to tenor-sax when he turned 13. Did his first gigs with some friends in a rock & roll band in 1956, and has since then played everything from Country to Western Swing, Big Band, R&B and Blues. He's been in the Delbert McClinton Band for over 23 years, and has also shared stage with Jeffrey Osborne, the original Coasters, Taj Mahal, Joe Ely, Ruben Ramos & Revolution de Mexicana, Chuck Jackson, Maxine Brown, Willie Nelson, Marcia Ball, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Tower of Power, Huey Lewis, Hal Ketchum, Rickey Godfrey, Mingo Fishtrap and Ray Charles.
As a proof of his versatility, he was voted Saxophone player of the year in 1980 by the Oklahoma Country Music Association.
