Born and raised in Crowley, Louisiana Wayne Toups is rocking America with his spicy blend of rock, folk, r & b and cajun styles. Noted for his flamboyance and rock-derived rhythms there is no one quite like him, as any attendee of his 125 sold-out shows a year can attest. Wayne is considered one of the most charismatic and compelling; roots music entertainers around, having toured in over 26 countries. He debuted his fusion style on a 1986 album called ZyDeCajun. Now one of the most commercially successful cajun artist, Toups has recorded under major labels like Polygram-Mercury. In 1995, Wayne Toups was the first cajun performer to crack Billboard's Top Album chart with his "Back to the Bayou" album release. His distinctive instrumental style has also been heard on No. 1 country hits from Nashville with musicians such as Mark Chestnutt, Alan Jackson, Clay Walker, Sammy Kershaw and Garth Brooks, just to name a few. A legend in his own right, Wayne Toups continues to give his fans a front row seat to his ever-evolving legacy, with a new music video completed in January 2002. In April 2002, Wayne's, "Take My Hand" music video was awarded the Silver Lone Star Remy Award for Best Concert Performance Video, directed by award winning director John Frazier. Since receiving this award, Toups released an album in 2003, "Who Ever Said It Was Easy" with other musician joining in on this album such as Stanley "Buckwheat" Dural and Delbert McClinton. On this album Wayne Toups once again delivers what made him a star-rockin zydecajun sounds tinged with country, blues and all manner of Louisiana seasoning.
