I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

We are not actually brothers, but we have been friends a long time! I have loved the Blues Brothers since the first time I saw John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd take on the legendary roles on SNL, when I saw "Soul Man" performed, I rushed out and bought an 8-Track tape of "Briefcase Full of Blues". I worked for Malco Theatres in Jackson, TN in the early 80's and after putting the movie "The Blues Brothers" together, I was one of the first people in the state to get to watch it, I was hooked! On July 11, 1980 we were lucky enough to get to see The Blues Brothers in concert in Memphis, TN at the Mid-South Coliseum. We do a high energy Blues Brothers Tribute Act and have been performing together since 1982. We entered a church "Gong Show" and won first prize, we've been dancing and singing as Jake and Elwood ever since. This makes us one of the longest running Blues Brothers Tribute Acts in the world. Our goal is to keep the excitement and magic of the Blues Brothers alive to the best of our ability, and have a lot of fun in the process! Most of our performances are at fundraisers for good causes. Our main focus has been to perform at American Cancer Society Relay for Life events after losing some of our loved ones to the dreaded disease over the past several years. Alan, actually lost his former wife Cathy to breast cancer. We have done dozens of shows at the Relays across Tennessee. Elwood is portrayed by Alan, an amazing man with Aykroyd-like looks and fancy footwork keeps the crowds in stitches. Joliet Jake is played by Mike, a big man with a big heart full of the Blues. I must also mention our Blues Mobile that we drive to the gigs in, always gets a lot of looks! With the cart wheels and fast tempo dancing, the Tennessee Blues Brothers aim to entertain! Our show is fun for the whole family!

Our First Police Chase, Well, Actually...

One thing we have to have for a gig, is gum. When you are singing and dancing like wild men, your mouth gets dry. Gum tends to prevent the dry mouth problem. Usually, I would already have purchased gu...

Rollin, rollin, Elwood...

"Hey Jake", he shouted as he came up to the door tonight.  "Take a look, I got my suit dry-cleaned, just like you said I should!"  He was so proud of himself.  Honestly, I was too. ...

Before the McDonalds Coffee Lawsuit

I don't really know why I had the urge to share this, one of those stupid things in my past.  I was getting ready for a gig in Martin, Tennessee several years ago.  I told my "brother" Elwoo...

A Wish Come True... Enter Bluesberry Jam Band

For 26 years Alan and I had performed our "Blues Brothers" tribute. For most of that time it was lip-sync and I have to say we had a blast doing that! I mean, no matter how out of breath you were from...
