Biography

The Champion Sisters entertain audiences with their eclectic style and harmonious sounds. Their captivating, close-knit harmonies make the trio a stage favorite.
With alluring finesse, the three sisters, Molly and identical twins Brenda and Sandra, showcase their talents through a wide range of music from swing to jazz, rhythm and blues to folk, big band to Contemporary Christian and country-western.
Among their recent notable engagements, the sisters headlined at the Houston Grand Opera’s Cinderella Ball. During 2007, the sisters were delighted to serenade former President George Bush, Sr., during a ceremony in Houston honoring him with the American Spirit Award from the National World War II Museum of New Orleans. The sisters have previously opened for the Houston Symphony Orchestra’s Annual Fourth of July Celebration, the Star Spangled Salute at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas. In addition, they have performed on numerous occasions, the National Anthem and God Bless America at various sports functions, which include the Houston Astros--both at the Astrodome and Minute Maid Park; the Houston Texans at the Reliant Stadium; the Houston Dynamo; the Houston Comets at the Toyota Center and the Houston Aeros at the Toyota Center. The Komen Houston – Race for the Cure is an organization near and dear to the sisters’ hearts, and they have performed the National Anthem several years consecutively.
The trio continues the fine singing tradition of their late father, George Champion, a talented musician who performed alongside world famous country and western artists, and also was a longstanding guest on Utah Carl’s Gulf Coast Jamboree television show in Houston, Texas.
Born in Texas, the sisters began showing their love for music at the tender ages of four and five. It was during their early childhood and teen years that the trio developed their three-part harmony while singing along with their favorite artists of the time, which included the Bee Gees, Beach Boys, Eagles, and the Contemporary Christian artists The Imperials, to name a few.
Brenda, Sandra and Molly began their careers singing gospel music at church and at religious and secular functions, then known as Adoration. The sisters have also toured the United States performing alongside other Christian artists. Their first single recording, Song For Broken Hearts hit the top 10 list of Contemporary Christian radio station KSBJ and remained there for more than three months.
After a hiatus from the industry, the Champion Sisters resumed their singing career in 2000 under the direction of renowned Texas pianist, composer and producer, as well as longtime family friend, Paul English. Their debut album, In The Mood, released in 2005, received rave reviews at the CD Celebration in April 2004.
The recording of the sisters’ second album, Christmas with the Champion Sisters, began two years ago at SugarHill Studios in Houston with Andy Bradley. Bradley has more than 19 years and has produced and engineered multiple Grammy nominated projects. Horns were recorded with Randy Miller at Houston-based Tierra Studios. Miller has more than a decade of successful album production experience, earning him four Grammys and 16 nominations. The final engineering and mixing was at Blue Rock Artist Ranch and Studio in Wimberley, Texas with the help of sound engineer Keith Gary, who has also worked with Coldplay and Simon and Garfunkel. To add to the star-studded lineup, Grammy-nominated composer Chris Maresh plays bass.
Blue Rock Studio owner and artist Billy Crockett, says the Champion Sisters bring “artful surprise, brave tenderness and a shimmering joy,” to the holiday season.
