The Prescott Jazz Society's 'Jazz Without Borders' program will introduce the new and ultra exciting Cannon Fire Showcase Revue to the public on Saturday, August 25th at the Prescott Valley Entertainment District. This groundbreaking event is being sponsored by the Fain Signature Group of Prescott Valley
The show, which begins at 6:00 pm, will present an ensemble of the finest professional entertainers selected from the best of three Jazz Societies (Las Vegas Jazz Society, Phoenix Jazz in Arizona Society, and the Prescott Jazz Society), all of whom are proven and well traveled professionals. You will enjoy a diverse selection of vocal and instrumental Jazz, Blues, Country, Reggae, and Smooth Rap that will feature the local award winning saxophonist, Milt Cannon.
VA Public Affairs Officer, Actor/Singer Frank Cimorelli had this to say about the performers. "We booked Milt Cannon and the Cannon Fire Dance Band for our 6th annual National Salute to Veterans, Black History Month Jazz Concert. Milt and the band played a variety of very hip and diverse styles of music including calypso, rap, rock, jazz and fusion. The crowd loved the music and were enthusiastic with their applause. I would highly recommend Milt Cannon and Cannon Fire for any entertainment event or venue. He is a consummate professional. I thought I had seen everything but when I saw Milt Cannon do rap, that really threw me over the edge. Wow!"
The showcase revue also features the fabulous vocal stylings of The Cunningham a Las Vegas jazz duo fresh off of a successful tour that garnered them the award of 'key to the city' by the Honorable Mayor of St. Louis, MO. They are Jazzbeat's featured artists this month, so give a good listen to the dynamic music Don and Alicia Cunningham are capable of.
The ensemble is supported by drummer Randy Carter (recently returned from his international cruise-ship engagement), bassist Ray Carter (no relation), guitarist Cal McCarthy, and pianist Albert Sarko who is believed to be one of, if not the, finest jazz pianist in the northern Arizona region.
"It is my my hope and intent to raise African-American flavored entertainment to an acceptable and attractive level that will gain the active interest of the public and entertainment promoters in northern Arizona and beyond" says Milt Cannon, President of the Prescott Jazz Society and Cannon Fire band leader.
