Formed in 2004, The Las Vegas Jazz Connection has quickly established itself at the forefront of the Las Vegas music scene. A jazz orchestra consisting of 26 world class musicians located in the Las Vegas area, The Las Vegas Jazz Connection offers a unique, innovative sound that includes instruments such as; French horn, strings, harp, bass clarinet and oboe in addition to the standard “big band†set up. The brilliant and rich colors an orchestra of this instrumentation can create are beautifully executed through the compositions and arrangements of the Las Vegas Jazz Connection’s leader, Nathan Tanouye.
Since their debut performance at the Judy Bailey Theater in Las Vegas in 2005, the Las Vegas Jazz Connection has performed with such artists as; The Cunninghams, The Inkspots, Tyia Wilson, Lindell Blake and Filipino recording artist sensation, Martin Nievera, to name a few.
Their critically acclaimed debut album, Crossings: The Russ Freeman Project (Peacock, 2006) features the compositions of renowned composer and pianist, Russ Freeman, that were arranged and orchestrated by Tanouye. Already receiving air time on radio stations throughout the U.S. as well as CD sales across the globe, The Las Vegas Jazz Connection takes pride in being ambassadors of Las Vegas’ cultural scene.
In addition to their performance schedule, The Las Vegas Jazz Connection recently released their second CD under the Peacock label. Remembering Russ features the vocal compositions of Russ Freeman, and again the well crafted arrangements and orchestrations of Tanouye. The album was released early in 2008 and is also produced by Carolyn Freeman and Peacock Entertainment.
