Saving The World In Style

About Me

Born John Wickham Henry de Trafford Steed on 6th February 1922 in England...where else?...Educated at Lydeard Lodge and Eton. John Steed saw active service during WWII firstly signing up under-age as a trooper in the 49th Dragoon Guards; and then, once of age, he served a commision as an officer in the Life Guards, where he ultimately reached the rank of Major. Showing great bravery in various battlefields from North Africa to Europe, Steed was picked for a secondment to Military Intelligence where he was sent behind enemy lines in France and the Far East and was for some time, captured as a POW in Nanking. After the War, Steed returned to his studies, attending an Oxbridge University, but his past experiences led him to realise where his true talents lay. The cloak and dagger business proved to be a career he was adept at and enjoyed, and it has served him and he has served it well for many years now.His glory years were in the 1960s when he was partnered in The Avengers-the Dept's name for Steed's outfit- by highly skilled operatives, Mrs Cathy Gale, Mrs Emma Peel and Miss Tara King, his own personal favourite being Mrs Emma Peel. Here under the watchful gaze of Mother- Steed's controller, he and his female operatives fought several of the most secret and strange battles that the Cold War had to offer. After a brief hiatus which saw many myths and questions... some say retirement/sabbatical, others say deep undercover missions, and some suggest mentoring work for Dept S or even CI5... John Steed returned to The Ministry in the 1970s to form The New Avengers alongside rising talent Mike Gambit and Purdey, working from his Stud Farm in the country to rescue Britain from perilous threat once more. He placed himself back in the shadows where he still remains the original and the best defence for Queen and Country.John Steed enjoys Vintage Cars, Champagne, Finest Tailoring, Champagne, Spying, Beautiful Ladies, Champagne and Champagne, not necessarily in that order. He firmly believes in England and in never being caught out without your bowler or your umbrella. Above all else, he is saving the world in style, and always needed...

The New, New Avengers

Following the disasterous movie that shall not be spoken about, I have often wondered who could play The Avengers now and who could surely do it much better than Fiennes and Thurman. I mean reall...
