I am here for Friends

About Me

Oscar Winning Rabbit - Knighty Knight Bugs (1958)

I was born in 1940 in Brooklyn, New York and I’ve had many folks who I’d like to thank who were critical in developing my character: Ben "Bugs" Hardaway (who created a prototypical version of Bugs Bunny in 1938's “Porky's Hare Hunt”), Bob Clampett, Tex Avery, Robert McKimson (created the definitive Bugs Bunny character design we know and love today), Chuck Jones, and Friz Freleng, and all the animators and scores of others at Termite Terrace, and of course, Mel Blanc (for some reason) that helped me in my career.

I’ve had my bouts with Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Marvin the Martian, Daffy Duck, Witch Hazel, Rocky and Mugsy, Wile E. Coyote and a host of others, but it was always just for the camera. Once you heard me say "Of course you realize, 'DIS means war!" you knew the gloves were off, but off screen, they are all my good friends.

Many times I’ve tried to get to the Coachella Valley Carrot Festival, end up saying “I knew I should have taken that left toin at Albuqoique” and start another adventure.

I copied my nonchalant carrot-chewing stance from the movie, “It Happened One Night”, where Clark Gable is leaning against a fence eating carrots more quickly than he is swallowing, giving instructions with his mouth full to the Claudette Colbert character, during the hitch-hiking sequence. This scene was so famous at the time that most people immediately got the connection, that Bugs was doing a spoof on Clark Gable. My famous line "Ah…What's up Doc?," was written by director Tex Avery for my first film, 1940s "A Wild Hare."

Write me a note, and I’ll try my best to respond. I am one busy bunny…
