New and secondhand books, cd's, dvd's, and video games in the Twin City area Missouri!

About Me

Bringing literacy to the wilds of Jefferson County, MO since 1997! Books Galore buys, sells, and trades books, games, dvd's, music cd's, video games, and more! From '97-'02, we were located in DeSoto, MO, and then relocated to the Festus / Crystal City, Missouri area in mid '02.We've gone from a tiny 800 square feet in our 1st incarnation, to 1900 square feet in the 2nd store, to 4050 square feet in the 3rd, to our current 1500 square feet store. Yes, smaller, but our selection is better than ever, and we're a stone throw away from a great Mexican restaurant, La Pachanga.I'm the owner, John Gilbert, and couldn't do this store without the help of my family, employees, and the best customers in the world!Interesting trades considered!Home | Browse | Search | Invite | Film | Mail | Blog | Favorites | Forum | Groups | Events | Videos | Music | Comedy | Classifieds

My Interests

We stock most popular categories, but work hard to keep a good selection of classic literature, science fiction, fantasy, and history.

I'd like to meet:

More booklovers and potential customers! How about a famous author or two, brave enough to venture into the hinterlands of Jefferson County?

Music:

In store, you're likely to hear a variety of music, often KDHX 88.1 community radio station or NPR, and many others that we consider conducive to relaxed browsing. Currently surf & instrumental stuff, getting heavy play.

Movies:

We have a growing selection of DVD's, new stuff in most every week.

Television:

TV in a bookstore? No way, except that tiny one behind the counter to test games and systems. No, I don't sit around playing video games... too much to do!

Books:

Over 25,000 of 'em in stock, we cram this little space full!

Heroes:

Local business owners that help other local business owners! Faithful readers, you folks amaze me.

that crazy book place

Put in a full in-store day today, not a bad one.  Introduced Mr. Kincaid to Aaron, the "new guy."  He rubbed his hands together with a mischievous look - a new one to give some hell!  ...

9+ Years of Books Galore

Just cracked my old 90's journal, always make me think you've come a long way baby!  The whole inspiration for that type of journal came from Brian Eno's A Year With Swollen Appendices, although ...
