JARO is a CD label, music publisher, concert agency and distribution company rolled into one. We produce world music, jazz and classical, with an emphasis on unusual voices and so-called crossover projects.
Each year we only publish a limited selection of products. We publish things we identify with, not what might just happen to be fashionable at the time. Our motto is qualitative variety. We also try to work with our artists over extended periods of time. Musicians such as Jasper van't Hof and Luis Di Matteo, for instance, have been with us for twenty years or more.
One of JAROs focuses is the relationship between East and West, Islamic, Sephardic and Christian music with the ensemble Sarband, a combination that makes the music of the Middle Ages comprehensible. JARO discovered the mysterious power and exhilarating effect of the archaic vocal style practiced by Bulgarian women's choirs, published recordings of The Bulgarian Voices Angelite and thus helped the chorus to world renown. With the Warsaw Village Band from Poland we were able to establish a young ensemble worldwide back in 2004.
