I am interested in educating people who have been misinformed about this wonderful breed, have been frightened by the media, or have been curious enough to try to learn the truth, while also trying to meet other rescues so that perhaps we can all help each other save more animals and find everlasting, loving homes.
Mercy, this precious little girl in the picture below, was the victim of a heinous crime. She died after being set on fire. If you would like to see her story, please watch the video on my page. The video is located right above the "My friend's Space" section.
Thank you.

I'd like to meet:
If you want to be added as a friend, please send me a short message. Friends who want to fight against breed banning, cruelty to animals, dog fighting, or want to learn more about the breed before adopting are great. If you are new with this breed, I am SO happy that you have come here. Unfortunately, we discovered some people here who were into the "fighting" and macho crap associated with these wonderful dogs and looking for more dogs to use as bait dogs or breeding. I will not tolerate anything or anyone with those philosophies here. If you have a private profile, this is especially important as it's the only way I'll know where you stand on these issues.
I can't stress enough that I will not tolerate people advertising breeding services or dogs if they are friends here. If you're looking for a dog, I urge you to look on Petfinder, in your area, under Pit Bulls and rescue a dog. If you are willing to travel any distance for your dog, that's wonderful too. If you go to your local shelter, much of the time they don't know a lot about Pit Bulls, so be informed. This is a fantastic way to help. Most rescues are careful with potential adopters, There are TOO MANY Pit Bulls out there that are being used for the wrong purposes. This is NOT the time to be breeding more dogs with almost no chance of having a safe, happy life. We must change the image and educate the public before we can safely add to the population. Only 1 out of 10 Pit Bulls has a happy ending. The rest are fought, abused, neglected, used as bait dogs, tortured, or euthanized before ever having a chance in life.
I want to stress one more thing that has to do with all shelter animals. Below is a picture of a typical day at a shelter. The animals in the cans were euthanized because no one wanted them. The death of these animals is a result of people allowing their dogs and cats to breed needlessly when a simple spay and neuter procedure could have prevented the countless homeless pets that are either dumped or given up because they were in the way. Animals aren't perfect. They need love, training, and they need to be kept from breeding. Some of these animals simply ran out of time. The shelters have to make room for the countless dogs and cats that will be there the next day, next week, etc. This mass murder happens every day. This is a serious issue! PLEASE DON'T BREED!
Thank you.
Bully breeds, such as the American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Dogo Argintino, among many other relatives of this wonderful breed, are used as therapy dogs, police dogs, search and rescue dogs, to name just a few examples. They are used in so many situations, requiring them to be of sound temperament and trustworthy, or these dogs would never be placed in such important positions. Our daughter was raised with our American Pit Bull Terrier, Bella. Both of our dogs are ambassadors for this breed. They are gentle and kind with children. However, with any intelligent parenting, we don't leave our dogs alone with young children, regardless of breed!
Is this Sadie, an American Staffordshire Terrier; does she have the face of a killer?
This angelic American Pit Bull Terrier could be the victim of racial profiling. She could be taken from her home and euthanized due to ignorance and unfair laws.

This American Pit Bull Terrier's only concern is looking beautiful. She's very vain, but she's no killer!. This is Bella. She is my dog and has her own page!
Is this Dogo Argintino/Bull Terrier, a victim of unspeakable torture, including having his ears cut off with scissors in a garage, as well as being an ex-fighter, human aggressive? Many people would think so. No. He is one of the kindest, sweetest dogs I have ever known. His biggest problem is getting that stocking cap off his head! This is Teddy Roosevelt. He is my dog and has his own page!
This is Teddy and Bella when they're sleeping and NOT getting into tons of trouble! I love to see them like this. How could anyone be afraid of them?
This adorable Bull Terrier is a member of the Bully breed. His breed represents "Target."
The term, "Pit Bull," has become the most common way to describe any bad or vicious dog that you will read or hear about in the media. They have depicted these animals as mean, hungry, savage killers that are out of control and cannot be trusted around even their own masters, let alone children. They are almost NEVER depicted as being the loving, forgiving, dogs they have shown themselves to be to people who have given them a chance. Of course, there are dogs in any breed with unstable temperaments, or have been abused long enough that they ARE dangerous. And, with bully breeds, the strength of the dog can pose a danger. However, even with their tenacity and strength, they are extremely difficult to "make vicious" because of their deep loyalty to humans and extremely sound temperaments.
These traits have been bred into them for over 200 years. The dogs I have displayed above are all bully breeds, yet each is still a separate breed with special personality traits. Any dog you hear about on the news will most always be termed "Pit Bull." But the news cannot distinguish the difference between an American Pit Bull Terrier and an American Bulldog. Time and time again, they have blatantly misrepresented bully breeds with completely different breeds, such as Greyhounds, Poodles, and German Shepherds.. There is NO comparison here. If they bite someone, they will be labeled a Pit Bull. Will you ever see the news correct themselves? No.

Music:
If you have more than one dog, sometimes it's best NOT to adopt a bully breed, or at least one of the purebred Bully breeds. Adopting mixed breeds are often a great solution to the natural ANIMAL aggression issues that can arise in multiple dog homes. This doesn't necessarily mean your dog will not be aggressive toward other dogs, but many happy endings occur adopting these sweet mixed breeds that so often get over-looked due to their appearance. The heart within is what people should look for in a pet, not the beautiful outward appearance.
Movies:
The following slideshow is of my family, friends, and my Bella and Teddy. Keep in mind that Teddy is an ex-fighter and is the same dog I have talked about having his ears cut off and being horribly abused. Bella's ferocious face is all play-acting. She was rescued as a very small puppy from a breeder who was going to let her die of malnutrition. Everything on this slideshow shows how our dogs are treated as members of our family, as well as the interaction they show to each other and to us.
..
I had been featuring many of you on this page and sharing your stories. For now, I will be omitting that part of the page, but plan to bring it back in the near future. Thank you all for being so patient. So, until then, here are even more pics of Teddy and Bella! Man, you would think they were stars or something! Well, I guess they are to me.
Television:
Dogs like this, pictured below, with her beautiful little girl, are the kind of pets that will sit with you while watching TV and just be happy to be in a warm home with love and food. Animals make our world better. They should not be treated as impositions or problems. They are our friends. There is an obvious bond between these two. Can you imagine ever breaking that bond due to ignorance?
Sometimes people forget about so many of the other atrocities that happen besides the PETA scandals. I am a vegetarian because of factory farming practices, but I'm trying to stick with one or two issues here. Pit Bulls are my passion, but animals being used for unnecessary experimentation is another real problem. This picture below is a photo that my friend, George, has on his space. I looked into it and realized that it has to be added here. I love all animals and I cry for any living creature that is put through pain at the expense of greed. Please check this out on your own. You will be appalled at what human beings do at the expense of innocent creatures that have no voice.
Heroes:
What do we do when we see cruelty beyond comprehension? These dogs are the most maligned breed in this country. They are put through more cruelty than one could ever imagine. The heroes are people who take a dog like this, almost starved to death, fought, and they find something deep within their hearts and fight to give that poor animal another chance. These animals are sometimes lucky enough to get vet care, shelter, food, love, warmth, kindness, and many are brought back and are rehabilitated. They become someone's pet, even after so many atrocities that human beings from a so called "civilized" society, along with unspeakable cruelty, has imposed on them.
This particular picture is so painful to look at, but sometimes people don't truly understand unless they 'see' what really happens to these dogs.
This is Lucky. He had no name. He was almost dead. Probably used as a 'bait dog.' He was saved.
To most animal lovers, this is unconscionable. Some very misguided people believe that all these dogs are good for is fighting. These dogs feel love and pain as much as any other breed. Perhaps more.
I also want to say that if a Pit Bull isn't the dog for you, there are countless animals that desperately need good homes. My daughter isn't a huge Pittie fan, but she loves all animals and would do anything to help them.
Below are a couple of pictures of Teddy, right before, and a few months after we adopted him. He still looked lost and sad, but he's a very happy dog now. At that time, he didn't know how safe he was from ever being fought again. Teddy didn't like being a fighting dog. That's why he was dumped and left to die. Some people think that once these dogs are fought they can't be rehabilitated. Teddy was.
I plan to write a book about my experiences with Teddy. Maybe some sort of a children's book showing the love these dogs have for human beings, and how they should be treated. It will be "A day in the Life of Meester Teddy Roosevelt." For those who have Teddy as a "friend" they know he is quite a character and is a very loved boy. Here are a couple of pictures of Teddy's life now.
Please don't give up on an animal that has been abused. These are the animals that will never forget that they were once lost but have been found and given a new life. Not all rescued animals have a happy ending. Many of them have emotional problems that come from the horrible past they are trying to leave behind. It took Teddy a while before he would stop cowering if we went to pet him. He was afraid of having his ears touched. Both of these problems are gone now. He's can still be destructive. I don't leave really valuable things out for him to chew. These are things that can be worked with if your heart is willing. I say to people "Look deeply into your heart, and you will find the answer.
..
Thank you for taking the time to read this profile. I would love to help anyone gain knowledge and understanding of these dogs. The more we understand, the more we can fight ignorance. They are worth the fight.
~Blessed Be,
Carrie
