About Me

OK my second attempt at a page (DONT ASK LOL)Jo Vincent Parks hails from Washington D.C., and moved to the bay area in 1987 to obtain his Masters degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He has performed in Houses all around the Bay Area. Some of his appearances have included leading roles in Bay Shore Lyric Opera Companys productions of La Bohéme, Le Nozze di Figaro, and La Traviata; the nasty villains in Berkeley Opera's Tales of Hoffmann and Iago from Otello; San Francisco Lyric Opera's productions of I Pagliacci and Tosca where he became, respectively, the hunchback Tonio and the coolly murderous Scarpia. You may have also seen him in SF City College's Summer Opera productions of Frida where he played Diego Rivera, or as Stephan Kumalo in Kurt Weill's Lost in the Stars, or, in the title role of Sweeny Todd. Other Leading roles have included Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, Figaro in The Barber of Seville, Valentine in Livermore Valley Operas production of Faust by Gounod and the title role in Berkeley Operas Eugene Onegin. And more recently you may have found Jo onstage as Gloster Hemmings in San Francisco Opera's production of The Mother Of Us All. or as Alberich and Fasolt for Berkeley Operas Legend of the Ring. Feeling at home with Berkeley Opera as of late, Jo most recently brought to life the roles of Macbeth and Falstaff I would like to dedicate this page to my friend and teacher, Maestro Salvatore DAura who passed at the age of 100 in April 2004.
