About Me

Panayotis Terzakis, bass, was born in Athens, Greece. He started his musical training at an early age studying classical and acoustic guitar as well as music Theory and Harmony. He had his first singing lessons with baritone and composer Dion Aryvas who very soon became his mentor and introduced him in the classical music world, poetry and composition. He holds a B.A. in Music from the American College of Greece (Deree Gollege), and his Diploma in Classical Voice from the Attiko Conservatory of Athens. In August 2003 he earned a Fulbright Scholarship and studied at The Longy School of Music in Cambridge (Boston), from which he received his Master’s degree in Vocal Performance.Panayotis has participated in many performances including Operas, Oratorios and Lieder concerts, as well as Jazz, International and Greek music, in small and large ensembles and with orchestras and has performed in Greek, English, Italian, German, Spanish, French, Russian, and Japanese. He has had major roles in Webber’s “Jesus Christ Superstar”, Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”, Puccini’s “Il Tabbaro” and Barbieri’s “El Barberillo de Lavapies” which took place in June of 2005 at the Jarvis Zarzuela Festival in California, and was filmed for PBS.He has performed in Florida, Massachusetts, Philadelphia, New Hampshire, Maine, New York (USA) as well as in Europe. Known for his love and respect for the music of his homeland he has performed extensively in concerts including music by Greek composers whose works are not well known outside of Greece such as “My Hellenic Soul” (2004) and “Immortality- Greek Songs with the poetry of Nikos Gatsos” which was hosted by the American Repertory Theater. (A.R.T.- 2006). He has also performed for the Society for Historically Informed Performance (SoHip) with Ensemble Trident which he co-founded presenting a program of Byzantine Hymns and Greek traditional songs which toured in three States (USA), and was very warmly accepted by the audiences.In June 2007 he appeared as "Agamemnon" in Seneca's "Trojan Women" under the direction of Philippos Sofianos in Athens.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
