Eva Kendrick, a Massachusetts native, is a composer and vocalist. She recently completed "Shining," a song cycle based on seven poems of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated poet Kathleen Spivack, which premiered in July, 2005 at Pickman Hall in Cambridge, MA. "Shining" was also performed at the Herring Run Arts Fest in Middleborough, MA, St. Martins Church in Providence, RI, and the annual SeptemberFEST concert series hosted by the Longy School of Music. In 2005, Kendrick composed and performed original music for the installation piece Water(war)s for The Magdalena Project (USA), a festival featuring international women in theatre. She was commissioned to write a piece for the Quincy Quartet through the Summer Music Clinic in Boston, MA and was a Featured Member in the online magazine for SEAMUS (Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States).
Kendricks awards include ASCAPLU$ awards from 2000-present, a National Film Award for "Realizing Glen," a short film for which she wrote the soundtrack, and a Subito Grant from the American Composers Forum to aid in producing a fully-staged musical, "Le Bistro Cafe," for which Kendrick wrote the music, lyrics, and book. Kendricks music has been heard at many venues and festivals including the Zeitgeist Gallery, Longfellow National Park, Pasadena Balcony Theatre, Whitmore-Lindley Theatre, Wilshire EBELL of Los Angeles, Summer Shorts Festival, Birth of a Musical Festival, American Conservatory Theaters Summer Training Congress, First Night Providence!, and on the Boston radio station WRBB. She just recently graduated from the Longy School of Music with an M.M. in Composition where she studied with John Howell Morrison.
