Dystopya were born in Milan, Italy at the end of 2001.
Elio La Greca (drums) and Luca Gherardi (leading vocals) coming from two years of experience together in Tregenda, stoner doom band, decide to move towards a new musical route.
This project convinces guitarist Ivan Leone right away, he was already well known in Milans metal underground scene and hes been knowing drummer Elio La Greca for a long time so he joins the band right away developing the initial unit of the group.
The band starts working straight away and results are soon achieved.
In this start-up period they give life to Fog of fear in its embryo- version, which its going to be one of the greatest songs of the band.
The group keeps on working with the initial trio till june 2002.

Luca Gherardi (leading vocals) meets Marco Mattioli (bass), the two of them already knew each other not too well though, they start talking and the idea of Dystopya seems convincing for the bassist, who starts to rehearse with the band.
At the first rehearsal together the feeling among the four of them is immediate and its enough to convince Marco Mattioli to join in efinitively completing the bands line-up.
In 2003 Dystopya take part in the European music challenge Emergenzarock and they enter the finals.
In February 2004, Dystopya record their first demo: Alameida (6 tracks) which has good critics, succeeding in getting mentioned in the section demo: keep a look out of one the highest metal magazine Metal Shock, which writes very well on the music of the 4 guys.
The 4th of june 2004, Dystopya play with Raza de Odio (band formed by some members of Necrodeath, Sadist and Zorn).
In december 2004 Dystopya open the Titans of Thrash playing with major bands like Tankard (DE) and Carnal Forge (SWE).
Continuing their frantic live activity, Dystopya give body and soul to their music developing their musical style and succeeding in recording their first album at the Flying Studios in Gravellona Toce.
Aphazel, singer-guitarist of a well known Norwegian black-metal band Ancient, makes himself present to give a hand in the production of the album Always remember me by Dystopya (9 tracks and 1 video clip) finding the bands project very interesting.
Dystopya decide to record their tracks video In the black heart of the ocean promoting their music together with their image trying to get out of the underground and into a larger audience.
