About Me
The strange and unknown world of Alterhate has its genesis in spring 2004 when
four men (four different kind of making music) got together to play metal. The
way Alterhate generates music is something unconventional: extreme thrash metal
riffs mixed into a new generation of cross-hardcore, leaving enough space to
melodic lyrics that paints their music cold and obscure. I can say that there
are more than one genre in Alterhate music Zama bass explains and I think
its a kind of strenght for us. We can create music we like and have always
new urges. Alterhate roots grew up in the underground thrash metal scene of
Milan at the end of 90s. At that time 3/4th of the band (Serge, Zama, Jabba)
were known as Trauma. They started as cover band of new wave of british heavy
metal Megadeth, Metallica, Exodus, Overkill and Testament. But soon they started
writing their own songs: between 98 and 2000 Trauma recorded 3 demos (Garden
of Vanity/Believer will be lost...blood!/Grip of frost) and played in so many
shows and festivals in Italy. But when they tried to take a jump into the music
discography they found all doors closed: Its really difficult today to get
a contract...a deal Sergio vocals and guitars says and have a project to
develop in the future with the music: there are lots of music label that wants
a product to sell and dont want to invest on musicians, on their growth, on
thei art...you are just a code in a music shop...but, I must be onest, at the
time of Trauma we proposed something which was good but a bit old. But this
stop didnt change their convinction to go on. So they simply kept on writing
music, the thing they know well, and palying live shows. I think Jabba drums
that today theres no genre you can define in a word...I mean Thrash, hard-core,
power and nu-metal are all contaminated. So we let our different backgrounds
going out and merging into our old style. The proof is Destroy 4 song demo
recorded at the beginning of 2004 that confirm the change of the band, from
here named Alterhate with Flash as lead guitar. Destroy was written and recorded
under the influence of new sounds coming from Slipknot, Coal Chamber, Ill Nino,
Mudvayne, Nevermore and In Flames, together with new stylistic experimentations
(as System of a down). When we wrote our first songs Sergio explains we
didnt have an exact idea of what we were doing. Weve always been playing thrash
metal cause we were born as a thrash cover band. But we usually listen to and
are interested in other music too: I always listen to 60s-70s, Zama Pink Floyd
and Primus, Flash power and Jabba from Black/grind to death. So we tried to
put this idea together and we found out what we really want to play: the Alterhate
music. The refoundation of the band into Alterhate didnt mean to leave the
past but to explore new branches of heavy metal, to mix different gerne, to
introuce anomalous rhythmics (such in Feel it and Away from me) that sound
good. The promising demo Destroy began soon to be proposed live, finding
full support of the newest fans but also of all old fans. Alterhate wrote other
songs and soon decided to come back into the studio to put them all together
in a full-lenght, Error Code: We worked really hard says Zama and we are
satisfied because all songs sounds really good and are aggressive...Error code
is a kind of concept album because there is a hidden feeling in all songs, it
seems to come from an other world... maybe cyber...maybe obscure... but you
will find it really concrete. At the beginning of december 2006 the former band Zama (bass) decided to leave the band because of musical divergences. Marko Medicine Man (ex revoc on) took his place few weeks later.
