How Conspacious!

About Me

The clip below shows soldiers blowing up a dog for fun and laughing at it. War does awful things to people. Society should take its responsibilities. Not just in Iraq, but everywhere else where people and animals suffer due to indifference, ignorance and malice or greed. But let's not answer violence with violence. If rage and anger have the upper hand for a while, do not let it get out of hand.
The video of a puppy being thrown to its demise caused people to respond in ways that trigger a variety of reactions too. Why worry about a puppy and not about children starving to death? Why cry wolf now?
It may be so that we, in general, have learned to look the other way. That we have learned to be indifferent and focus on our own lives, our own ambitions, our own dreams. Because we assume it won't make any difference whether we care or not. The world's a corrupt place as it is, why bother with what happens far from our own backyard?
Maybe this puppy got to us, because it symbolizes the archetype of Innocence. It's what we have to give up when growing up, the innocence of our childhood. It's what lacks in the world out there, in countries where war rules and survival becomes the manifest of living instead of life itself. Human nature can be dark, but being cruel and evil is not a path to be chosen. And we also have to take a look inside. Question our own motives and goals. And emotions. Don't answer violence with violence. Use common sense and intelligence instead.
Help raise awareness.
Don't let this madness go on.

Hi, my name is Gina. My parents were born in Indonesia and sailed to the Netherlands after WW II had ended. They met eachother in the late 50s and settled in Maastricht, a medieval and beautiful city down south. I joined them in 1963, and a year later my brother Freddy completed the family. Music has always been a big deal when growing up. Whenever there was a family gathering (on my mother's side) with my grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, music & food were the main attraction!I had uncles who played their guitars like Django Reinhardt, and some of my cousins and (distant) relatives (on both my father's and mother's side) earn their living as professional musicians , multi-instrumentalists and singers. Freddy and i followed piano and music theory lessons as kids, but he was more serious about it and continued his studies at the Maastricht Conservatory. Whenever i was home and heard him practice something i liked, i tried it too, so that's why they all hated me for repeating Bach's Invention No. 8 over and over and faster and faster again. Freddy played Debussy's Arabesque No. 1 beautifully and due to his talent and willingness to help out other (often) senior students with their music theory, he had a bright future ahead of him. But the pressure of life was too much, so unfortunately he said his goodbyes in 1987 and left us with a wise and soothing message: Life Goes On.
And it did and does!
Sometimes i wonder how life would have turned out if Freddy were still alive. Therefore I'd like to dedicate this MySpace space in his honor...
Thanks for visiting!
