I Play All Styles!

About Me

Originally from Prince George, British Columbia, I was living in Montreal for the last 5 years and now I'm back in Vancouver. How did that happen? I make my living playing/teaching music. My first instrument is electric/upright bass but I also play guitar. I have a diploma in music from Vancouver Community College and a Bachelors degree in Jazz performance from McGill University. I write some songs but I like being a sideman and supporting other peoples endeavors, such as: MSEX, Manzanita, Sainte-Pierre and whoever else will let me play with them.I'm simply just a man trying to find his way in this crazy, mixed up world.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: thejohnwalshtrio.com
Band Members: "Back Again" is the latest track to come out of the FabulousFlow studio (a.k.a. my bedroom!) and is inspired by the many mornings I have waken feeling like death...but then end up back there the next week/day/etc...the music is probably inspired by the Beatles. Again, it's all me except for Reason, the drummer. "You Think.." is a new one inspired by a Devolution reunion concert I played in Vancouver in May. It's just more of Me and Reason. "Revisitation" is one of my jazz comps w/ Brian Axford on Piano and Andrew Miller on drums - recorded in studio A at McGill University. "Mr. Moon" is all me and a Boss DR. Rhythm drum machine and delay pedal and was recorded circa 1996/97 on my old 4-track. More to come in the future!
Influences: Dave Holland, Flea, Scott Lafaro, Larry Graham, Scott Colley, James Jamerson, John Frusciante, Edgar Meyer, Fugazi, Charles Mingus, the Roots, Fishbone.
