About Me

Born and raised near Vancouver BC, Jen Lewin is an accomplished and experienced pianist and vocalist, having played genres ranging from classical to ragtime to jazz to pop, rock, funk and beyond. After the obligatory classical piano lessons as a child, she began experimenting with ragtime and boogie-woogie piano before finally playing in her first group setting, the rhythm section for her high school vocal jazz group. Eventually, she went on to study jazz piano at Vancouver Community College with a minor in jazz voice in her second year, finally graduating in 2001. Since graduation, she’s performed all over the world with the cruise industry, as well as private functions, clubs, and other venues. Enjoying the journey every step of the way, she is currently experimenting with a jazz/pop/R&B/drum ‘n bass fusion, influenced by everything from Silhouette Brown, Gretchen Lieberum, Erykah Badu, and Beady Belle to The Cure, Radiohead, and The Smiths. Jen also plays with Vancouver-based band PIM (www.myspace.com/perfectintervalmanagement), which features an unusual assortment of instruments playing unique, fun, and funky originals and jazz covers, and most recently with The Bella Donnas, a fun, slightly risque group of rowdy ladies and very patient gentlemen (www.myspace.com/thebelladonnas). Jen can also be seen every Thursday night with Goby Catt (www.gobycatt.com) at The Fish House in Stanley Park, and every Friday night at LIME on Commercial Drive with Tim Sars (www.myspace.com/timsars).Jen's EP, "Learn to Crawl", is available for sale at www.cdbaby.com/cd/lewinjen, and also at iTunes. Jen's EPK can be viewed at www.sonicbids.com/jenlewin.
