Carlos Jimenez

Carlos Jiménez is a Montreal-based jazz guitarist and composer. Since 2003, he has played with numerous Montreal jazz greats such as Kevin Dean, Andre White, Frank Lozano and Joel Miller. His work can be heard on the albums "Pas à Pas" by the Daniel Lessard Trio and "Stop and Listen" by the Joe Sullivan Big Band. He has also recorded for the Jazz Beat radio show on CBC as a member of the Brian Hurley Quartet. More recently, he collaborated to the soundtrack of the Oscar winning short film "The Danish Poet", a National Film Board production. Carlos Jiménez has performed in major venues and festivals, both as a leader and sideman around the province of Quebec as well as at the Salon International de la Musique in Paris. He has studied privately with Jan Jarczyk, Peter Leitch, Mike Gauthier, Greg Clayton and Bill Coon. He is a recipient of the James McGill Award and the David Holt Award as well as winning a scholarship from the Couleur Jazz radio station in 2005. He holds a Master's and a Bachelor’s degree in jazz performance from McGill University. ****************************************************** ***Carlos Jiménez est guitariste de jazz et compositeur. On peut l’entendre notamment sur les albums "Pas à Pas", du Trio Daniel Lessard, et "Stop and Listen", du Joe Sullivan Big Band. Il a aussi participé à un enregistrement pour l’émission Jazz Beat à CBC en tant que membre du Brian Hurley Quartet. Plus récemment, il a collaboré à la bande sonore du court métrage primé aux Oscars "The Danish Poet", produit par l’Office national du film du Canada. Carlos Jiménez s’est produit dans plusieurs salles de spectacles à travers le Québec ainsi qu’au Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, à l’OFF Festival de Jazz de Montréal et au Salon International de la Musique à Paris. Il a étudié auprès de Jan Jarczyk, Peter Leitch, Mike Gauthier, Greg Clayton et Bill Coon. Il est récipiendaire des bourses James McGill Award et David Holt Award ainsi que d’une bourse d’études de la station radiophonique Couleur Jazz. Il détient une maîtirse et un baccalauréat en interprétation jazz de l’Université McGill.
