Books, films, TV, of course (but the greatest of these is books); food, passionately (and drinking too, but I'm a very serious cook and a very frivolous drinker); cats, inevitably (I have to say that, I live with one); a surprising number of sports (cricket first, but then anything from American football to F1 - who'd have thought it?). And lots of other stuff.
I'd like to meet:
Anyone creative, anyone interested in genre fiction or books generally, that much is obvious; but why stop there? Writers are interested in everyone, it's in the job description...
Music:
Individual voices - anything from Tom Waits to Janis Ian, via Elvis Costello and Joni Mitchell. That fixes my taste pretty well, I think. Plus jazz and classical, opera, musicals - Sondheim is God, and I don't want to hear any arguments on that one.
Movies:
Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, Pirates of the Caribbean, A Matter of Life and Death, Galaxy Quest, The Princess Bride, The Blues Brothers, Star Wars (originals), Ladyhawke, Diva, Citizen Kane
Television:
Star Trek (TNG/DS9/Enterprise), Stargate SG-1, Simpsons, I Claudius, documentaries, sport

Heroes:
No one is a hero to their cat, and I'm inclined to take the cat's word for it. Therefore, none at the last count.
