About Me

'Alan Garner meets Michael Moorcock down the pub to discuss Henry Treece.'
I'm a fantasy, science fiction and horror author with eleven novels (and one non-fiction book) published around the world.
And when I'm not doing that, I'm writing for TV and film.
Five of my novels have been shortlisted for the August Derleth Award for Best Novel, and I won the British Fantasy Society Award for my novella The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke. My writing career started when I won Fear magazine's Best New Author award for my first published short story.
My new novel Jack of Ravens was published in the UK on July 20 2006. It's the first in a new sequence called Kingdom of the Serpent and tells of a modern-day archaeologist who walks out of the mists into the Iron Age more than 2,000 years ago. He has to find his way back home, through several eras of human history.
My next novel is called The Burning Man and will be out in April 2008.
My website is: www.markchadbourn.net and my blog is at www.jackofravens.com .

Praise for Mark's work:
'A sumptuous feast of fairytale, magic, dark gothic horror and romance' ~ The (London) Times
'A contemporary bard, a post-industrial Taliesin whose visionary novels are crammed with remixed mythologies, oneiric set-pieces, potent symbols, unsettling imagery and an engaging fusion of genre elements. His work is distinguished by breakneck but brilliantly controlled plots, meticulous research, deft characterisation and a crisp, accessible prose style' ~ Zone-SF.com
'Reminiscent of Alan Garner (the highest compliment I can pay to someone working in this mythic mode).' ~ SFSite.com
