About Me

Alison has been in the music industry since the 90's, her music is influenced by George Clinton, Mama's and Papa's, Chaka Khan, George Duke to name but a few. After 12 years as a Chef; Alison was the first female Black head Chef in London. Born in London Alison grew up in up in Suffolk, and moving to London to grow and find out what life had to offer her. Alison's auditioned and later joined a Rock band her first Gig was at the Marquee in London, supporting Whitesnake, her last gig with the band was at the New Marquee 18 months later. She sites it as the realisation to write music and leave catering. Since that time Alison has been signed to Gee Street Records, where she co-wrote 18 songs with Tony Nwachukwu and Tony Remy, Tickin Time Records, where she co-wrote with Don-E, and later with Talking loud, under the name of Amen Ra. More recently Alison has with written with Tony Nwachukwu to create Broken beat favourite, Longer (Wait), she also co wrote with Ty for his Award nominated LP Upwards, the song is called Inna Love. Alison has been working with Funk All-stars band to support, Carol Grimes, Linda Lewis, Madeline Bell, AWB, Cymande, and Root Jackson. Known as a lead vocalist, Alison sites being part of this band doing BV's as really beautiful experience. Alison featured on the Brothers Like Outlaw LP that won the first Rap Award for the MOBO's. Alison has sung with Massive Attack, Darren Taylor, Gil Scott Heron, Eska, Julie Dexter, Tony Remy, Ty, co writing Inna love on the Upwards LP, the Lifeforce Band (You know its all going on in the UK!!!!) But would love to sing with her Spiritual Godfather George Clinton (cos she's a Freak never missin a Beat!!!) Alison has many strings to her bow; she has collaborated with choreographers, Actors, Poets, to produce innovative alternative works. Apart from being a Songwriter/Singer, Alison is also an Art Consultant and counsellor, some of clients have been Health Sector (NHS, Barnados) Art Council, and collaborations with Kushite Theatre Company, she has written short plays for training and entertainment. As an innovator, Alison loves to work using all Art forms, she has written residentials and programmes involving young people using Music as a Tool, she has also taught all levels of singing over the last 12 years, to Adults and children.
