I like ham and jam and spam a lot, which of course plays merry hell with the digestion...
Ok, something a little more tangile perhaps? My first novel is called THE STORMCALLER, you can see here the lovely artwork by the very talented Larry Rostant and it's in all good shops now. Some bad ones as well. Most of the reviewers have been very nice about it, I particularly liked the sentence SFX used "The Stormcaller shows how high the bar has been raised with its sheer vision and inventiveness" while there were the inevitable couple of bad reviews, which just goes to show there are some real arseholes in the world! Or something like that anyway.
Right now The Twilight Herald, book 2 in the Twilight Reign series, is due to be published in July. As I've had to explain to some people, it's got nothing to do with trumpets. Book 3 in the quintet is slowly taking shape and will now be called The Grave Thief, unless I change my mind yet again... If you look it up on Amazon, some people have already bought it which shows optimism isn't dead yet! Unfortunately, I'm still at the horribly confused stage of things not quite fitting together yet so it's all a bit complicated. I've also just done a count-up of people in the master copy of the cast list and I think there are 220 mentioned in books 1 & 2...
Since Stormcaller is in the shops, the jacket copy is below, if you want to know anything else check out www.tomlloyd.co.uk or http://tomlloyd.livejournal.com/ or just drop me a line!
Synopsis:
In a land ruled by prophecy and the whims of Gods, a young man finds himself at the heart of a war he barely understands, wielding powers he may never be able to control.
Isak is a white-eye, born bigger, more charismatic and more powerful than normal men… but with that power comes an unpredictable temper and an inner rage he cannot always hide.
Brought up as a wagon-brat, feared and despised by those around him, he dreams of a place in the army and a chance to live his own life. But when the call comes, it isn’t to be a soldier, for the Gods have other plans for the intemperate teenager: Isak has been Chosen as heir-elect to the brooding Lord Bahl, the white-eye Lord of the Farlan.
The white-eyes were created by the Gods to bring order out of chaos, for their magnetic charm and formidable strength makes them natural leaders of men. Lord Bahl is typical of the breed: he inspires and oppresses those around him in equal measure. He can be brusque and impatient, a difficult mentor for a boy every bit as volatile as he is.
But now is the time for the forging of empires. With mounting envy and malice the men who would themselves be kinds watch Isak, Chosen by Gods as flawed as the humans who serve them, as he is shaped and moulded to fulfil the prophecies that circle him like scavenger birds. Divine fury and mortal strife is about to spill over and paint the world with blood.
THE STORMCALLER is the first book in a powerful new series that combines inspired world-building, epoch-shattering battles and high emotion to dazzling effect.
