About Me

Reality is the leading cause of stress for those in touch with it - Jane Wagner
Mari Adkins is a dark fiction writer, poet, and blogger from a tiny coal mining community in southeastern Kentucky. As a child, she first put pencil to paper and created her first “story” - she was six years old. She wrote her first poem at nine. And she's still writing.
She's written three novels, working on the fourth, and three short stories. Her writing has been published at ApexOnline, in Apex Digest, and in projects related to Apex Publications, the Stories from the Red Light District anthology - as well as a few other venues, with more to come. She maintains a writing blog here . The site contains more information about Mari, about Harlan County, and about her writing overall. She is a member of the Toasted Cheese online writing community and is a contributing editor for Apex Science Fiction & Horror Digest .
Mari has lived away from the mountains and lived deep in the mountains. She currently lives in Central Kentucky with her life-partner and their calico kitteh. She is the mother of two teenaged boys and is an avid supporter of kidney disease awareness. The mountains, their culture, their superstitions, their particular magics, will always be in her blood.
I'll remember you until the stars die - Tad Williams
