About Me

You are now marked on my profile visitor map!

“…Roberto is in my estimation one of the most talented pianists I have encountered over the past years. He is disciplined, knowledgeable about the jazz legacy, has great ears and most of all, a burning desire to be a great musician…” Dave Liebman
“…Roberto exhibits an amazing assuredness of swing and technique juxtaposing a contemporary linear approach with respect for the roots. His touch on the piano and great spirit, along with his angular compositional approach makes this a worthwhile and enjoyable listen…” Phil Markowitz
Born in Milan in 1977, undertakes the study of piano at eight, playing classical music.
Discovers jazz in his teens and soon starts playing professionally with the Enrico Intra’s Big Band recording 4 CDs with some of the best Italian and international musicians.

Has played with: Dave Liebman, Max Roach, Bobby Watson, Bob Brookmeyer, David Murray, Eddie Daniels, David Raksin, James Cammack, Duane Eubanks, Darrell Green, Neal Miner, Will Terrill, Carl Allen, Rodney Whitaker, Franco Cerri, Enrico Rava, Franco Ambrosetti, Giovanni Tommaso, Paolino Dalla Porta, Gianluigi Trovesi, Fabrizio Bosso, Paolo Fresu, Nat Su, Jean Charles Richard.
In September 2006 Roberto is selected as a semifinalist at the Thelonious Monk Piano Competition in Washington DC, with judges Herbie Hancock, Danilo Perez, Andrew Hill, Dr.Billy Taylor and Renee Rosnes.

The Cues Trio, wich he had formed a few years earlier, had already recorded the CD "Introducing CUES trio" for DDQ-SoulNote., inspired by the music of pianist Ahmad Jamal.
