About Me

The Swedish folk music duo Anda offers a fresh and intriguing approach to the ancient vocal traditions of Scandinavia. With the Turkish lute and the Swedish keyed fiddle they merge the modern with the old in a lively way.Mattias Ristholm, (vocals and Turkish lute) Anders Peev (Keyed Fiddle) are well experienced skilled in the Swedish folk music traditions. They draw inspiration from the rich soil of spiritual folk music and taint it with influences from the Orient and alternative rock music.The band was formed in 2001 and have since been frequently engaged in concerts and festivals. Anders Peev has studied folk music at the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm, Sweden and Mattias Ristholm attended the School of Creative Ministries in London. The arrangement on the ballad "Jungfru Maria" was made by Anda and the clip is from a concert in Vimmerby church 2007-06-19. The choir is led by Kerstin Borjeson.

Influences: AndaÂ´s music consist mainly of aincent traditional music from Sweden and Norway. They foremost draw material from the spiritual vocal traditions of 14-19 century Scandinavia. They spice the music with influences from rock music and the orient.
Sounds Like: Anders Larsson, Garmarna, NÃ¥ra, Irmelin, Gjallarhorn. Frifot, Sofia Karlsson, well pretty much like and unlike most Scandinavian folk acts

Summer tour in progress
